As a Lead Engineer focused on AI models training, you will drive the development of our ML training framework and contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge AI model training methodologies. In this leadership role, you will guide technical direction, mentor engineers, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design, train, and optimize ML models for real-world applications. Your expertise in C++, machine learning frameworks, and AI accelerators will be instrumental in shaping the next generation of AI solutions at Tenstorrent.

This role is on-site, based out of Warsaw, Poland.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical development of machine learning frameworks, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and high performance.
  • Drive architectural decisions related to AI model training, optimization, and deployment.
  • Mentor and guide a team of engineers, fostering innovation and technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and translate them into effective AI solutions.
  • Extend and optimize ML frameworks by adding support for new layers and improving computational efficiency.
  • Train, validate, and fine-tune machine learning models using large-scale datasets, ensuring robustness and accuracy.
  • Investigate model performance bottlenecks, identify gaps in functionality, and propose innovative solutions.
  • Analyze and improve model mapping onto Tenstorrent devices, working closely with the compilation and kernel teams.
  • Stay ahead of industry advancements, integrating the latest research and techniques into our development processes.
  • Collaborate with software and hardware teams to ensure seamless integration of AI models into production environments.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Extensive expertise in C++ with a strong background in low-level programming and performance optimization.
  • Deep understanding of machine learning and AI model training frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of linear algebra and its applications in AI model training.
  • Experience with PyTorch or similar ML frameworks for deep learning model development.
  • Proven track record in designing, training, and deploying large-scale neural networks.
  • Familiarity with AI accelerator architectures, GPU programming, and kernel development (CUDA, OpenCL) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to optimize model performance.
  • Experience leading and mentoring engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, innovative environment, driving results and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence technical direction.
