Tenstorrent is leading the industry on cutting-edge AI technology, revolutionizing performance expectations, ease of use, and cost efficiency. With AI redefining the computing paradigm, solutions must evolve to unify innovations in software models, compilers, platforms, networking, and semiconductors. Our diverse team of technologists have developed a high performance RISC-V CPU from scratch, and share a passion for AI and a deep desire to build the best AI platform possible. We value collaboration, curiosity, and a commitment to solving hard problems. We are growing our team and looking for contributors of all seniorities.

At Tenstorrent, we're building cutting-edge AI compute solutions, and validating the performance and functionality of our silicon is a critical part of delivering exceptional products. We are looking for engineers to join our SoC and IP validation teams. These engineers will work closely with our validation leads, architecture, design, and verification teams to ensure that both IPs and SoCs meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

This role is hybrid, based out of Toronto, Canada OR Santa Clara, CA OR Austin, TX.

We welcome candidates at various experience levels for this role. During the interview process, candidates will be assessed for the appropriate level, and offers will align with that level, which may differ from the one in this posting.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with SoC/IP validation leads to implement comprehensive validation plans and execute tests for IPs and SoC integration.
  • Support the validation of SoC and IP blocks from pre-silicon stages (simulation and emulation) to post-silicon bring-up and testing.
  • Execute a variety of validation tests, focusing on functional correctness, integration, and real-world performance benchmarks.
  • Document and report test results, identifying and tracking issues through to resolution.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the validation process covers critical product requirements and customer use cases.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain test cases and automation scripts for efficient and scalable validation.
  • Work with the validation leads to integrate tests into continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) frameworks to enable rapid feedback during validation phases.
  • Assist in maintaining and enhancing validation infrastructure to ensure long-term reusability and efficiency across projects.
  • Support the debugging process during both pre-silicon and post-silicon phases, identifying and analyzing issues at the IP and system level.
  • Use industry-standard tools (e.g., JTAG, protocol analyzers, logic analyzers) to root-cause issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams to address them.
  • Provide detailed feedback on issues found during validation, collaborating closely with design, architecture, and software teams to resolve them quickly.
  • Collaborate closely with IP validation, SoC validation, design, architecture, and product teams to ensure alignment and seamless integration of validated components into the larger system.
  • Assist in providing feedback to design and architecture teams regarding potential improvements based on validation findings.
  • Work with software and firmware teams to ensure that proper drivers and software components are developed and validated for the silicon.
  • Provide ongoing support to internal teams during the validation process, assisting with platform bring-up, debugging, and issue resolution.
  • Regularly update validation leads and other stakeholders on validation progress, issues, and milestones.
  • Generate validation reports and documents, including test logs, issue trackers, and validation feedback for cross-functional teams.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or related field) with 3+ years of experience in SoC/IP validation, embedded systems, or a similar technical area.
  • Strong hands-on experience in SoC/IP validation, with a solid understanding of digital logic, system-level behaviors, and performance validation techniques.
  • Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and shell scripting for test development, automation, and debugging.
  • Experience with pre-silicon (simulation, emulation) and post-silicon (lab testing, bring-up) validation.
  • Hands-on experience using debugging tools like JTAG, protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, and other industry-standard hardware/software tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Experience with high-speed peripheral validation (e.g., Ethernet, PCIe, DRAM) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) pipelines for test automation.
  • Exposure to RTL design and verification methodologies (e.g., SystemVerilog, UVM).
  • Experience working with multi-die chiplets or high-speed interconnects is advantageous.
  • Understanding of ATE (Automated Test Equipment) screening processes or silicon characterization.
  • Exposure to low level FW development for RISC-V
