Tenstorrent is seeking a highly skilled and experienced RTL Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving architectural and micro-architectural improvements to our AI IP, identifying performance bottlenecks, and proposing innovative solutions to optimize our designs.

This role is hybrid, based out of Toronto, ON; Austin, TX; or Santa Clara, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead architectural and micro-architectural improvements for AI IP.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and propose micro-architectural features to address them.
  • Collaborate with performance, DV, and physical design engineers to drive trade-offs and craft optimal solutions.
  • Deploy innovative techniques to improve power, performance, and area of the design.
  • Conduct experiments with RTL and evaluate synthesis, timing, and power results.
  • Debug RTL/logic issues across various hierarchies in both pre-silicon and post-silicon environments.
  • Enhance RTL design environment, tools, and infrastructure.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in EE/ECE/CE/CS or related field required; MS or PhD highly desired.
  • Thorough knowledge of microprocessor architecture and micro-architecture.
  • Familiarity with the latest AI models and trends.
  • Proficiency in floating-point arithmetic and formats.
  • Experience with performance modeling and analysis.
  • Knowledge of Instruction-set-architecture (ISA) extensions.
  • Strong background in RTL design of power and area-efficient designs.
  • Understanding of GPU and AI accelerator architecture.
  • Familiarity with physical design issues in RTL design and micro-architecture specification.
  • 10+ years of work experience in GPU/AI/Vector architecture and design.
  • Expertise in low-power micro-architecture techniques.
  • Experience in designing and delivering IP to external customers as well as internal teams.
  • Proficiency in RTL design and converging high-performance designs for performance, power, area, and frequency.
  • Knowledge of logic design principles along with timing and power implications.
  • Experience with project tracking methodologies and techniques.
  • Proficiency with simulators and waveform debugging tools.

Compensation for all engineers at Tenstorrent ranges from $100k - $500k including base and variable compensation targets. Experience, skills, education, background and location all impact the actual offer made.
