As a Staff RTL Power Management Engineer at Tenstorrent, you will be a key player in optimizing the power consumption of our digital designs. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement effective power management techniques, analyzing power profiles, and ensuring that our products meet strict power-efficiency goals. Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of power management strategies for complex digital designs, ensuring optimal power consumption without compromising performance.
  • Collaborate closely with design, architecture, and software teams to define power management requirements and strategies.
  • Utilize industry-standard tools and methodologies to perform power analysis and estimate power consumption at different stages of design.
  • Implement power-saving features at the RTL level, such as clock gating, voltage scaling, and dynamic power management.
  • Develop and implement low-power design techniques, considering trade-offs between power, performance, and area (PPA).
  • Analyze power profiles and identify opportunities for further power reduction through design optimization.
  • Create and maintain power management documentation, guidelines, and best practices for the engineering team.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, sharing your expertise in power-efficient design techniques.
  • Collaborate with physical design and verification teams to ensure the successful implementation of power management features.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in power management methodologies, tools, and industry trends.
  • Participate in design reviews, offering insights on power-related considerations and solutions.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully optimizing power consumption in complex digital designs.
  • Expertise in RTL design and strong understanding of power management techniques.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard EDA tools for power analysis, simulation, and verification.
  • Familiarity with low-power design languages such as UPF (Unified Power Format) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to analyze power profiles and optimize designs accordingly.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
