Senior Financial Analyst

Vertus Group is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to lead financial reporting, forecasting, and analytical support across a portfolio of independently operated software businesses. This newly created role offers meaningful exposure to senior leadership, M&A activity, and international operations, providing a strong platform for career growth within a dynamic and expanding environment.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, a disciplined approach to analysis, and the ability to work collaboratively with executives and cross‑functional teams. A willingness to engage deeply with financial details, coupled with clear communication and sound judgment, will be essential for success. Spanish language skills are considered an asset.
This hybrid position requires up to two days per week in our Markham office and may involve periodic business travel.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
- Manage full‑cycle financial accounting and ensure a timely, accurate month‑end close.
- Lead monthly financial statement reviews with business leaders, documenting variances and updating forecasts.
- Complete quarterly close processes, including note disclosures.
- Maintain a well‑documented account reconciliation workbook and investigate variances promptly.
- Support audit activities through organized documentation and evidence.
- Apply IFRS and CSI accounting policies to new and complex transactions.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Analyze operating metrics and financial results to build robust, supportable forecasts.
- Maintain business models and deliver quarterly forecast updates.
- Prepare analytical insights to support executive decision‑making.
Business Partnering
- Partner with executives to provide insights on performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Support pricing and revenue optimization, cost analysis, and capital allocation decisions.
- Contribute to organizational change initiatives through detailed planning and clear communication.
Systems Integration
- Document existing financial processes and identify key controls.
- Design improved processes aligned with new financial systems.
- Lead integration plans for transitioning processes into new platforms.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- CPA designation required.
- Minimum three years of accounting experience.
- Public accounting experience in assurance or financial reporting within the software industry.
- Advanced knowledge of IFRS, including hands‑on application of IFRS 15 to complex transactions.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams and levels of management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Spanish language skills (verbal or written) are an asset.
