POSITION
The AI Transformation Lead will be responsible for driving the adoption and implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies across our diverse portfolio of companies. This is a strategic and hands-on role focused on identifying high-impact AI opportunities, educating and collaborating with portfolio company leadership, and overseeing the execution of AI initiatives to enhance profitability, drive operational efficiencies, and create long-term value consistent with our "buy and hold forever" philosophy. Salary range for this role is $120,000 - $140,000 CAD.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- AI Strategy & Opportunity Identification:
- Collaborate with Executive and Business Unit leadership to understand business strategies, operational challenges, and identify relevant AI use cases.
- Develop tailored AI roadmaps for portfolio companies, prioritizing initiatives based on potential ROI and feasibility.
- Education & Transformation:
- Educate portfolio company executives and operational leaders to uncover practical applications of AI/ML within their specific business contexts.
- Define learning paths to accelerate the upskilling and adoption of AI across business units of various sizes, maturity, and industry.
- Facilitate workshops, presentations, and hands-on sprints to build AI literacy and foster a data-driven culture.
- Project Initiation & Oversight:
- Define project scope, objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and resource requirements for AI initiatives.
- Assist portfolio companies in selecting appropriate AI tools, platforms, and potential third-party vendors.
- Provide oversight and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with business goals and successful implementation.
- Value Realization & Knowledge Sharing:
- Develop case studies and best practices based on successful AI implementations within the portfolio.
- Foster a community of practice, enabling knowledge sharing and collaboration on AI initiatives across portfolio companies.
- Vendor & Partner Management:
- Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage relationships with AI technology vendors and implementation partners as needed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- This is a job for someone with a bias for action. Experience as a technical founder, solutions architect, or technical operator is a strong plus.
- Proven track record of identifying and implementing AI/ML solutions that delivered tangible business value (e.g., revenue growth, cost reduction, efficiency improvement).
- Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts, algorithms, tools, data architecture, and implementation lifecycles.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze business processes, identify opportunities for technological enhancement, and think strategically.
- Experience managing complex projects and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, results-oriented environment.
- An advanced degree (MS, PhD, or MBA) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field is nice to have.
