TandemLaunch builds creates companies through the commercialization of cutting-edge university research. If you’ve ever thought of the applications of your research in the real world, then you probably have some idea of how difficult that process is. At TandemLaunch, we build the pathways from invention to products that will define the next generation of world-changing startups.

At the core of this process are our Venture Development Specialists. Creative, articulate and ambitious technical leaders who can identify disruptive research that challenges our assumptions of what’s possible, then matures those inventions into new startups by recruiting the right founders, laying out strategies for success and guiding those startups to success.

No one is born with that skill set, so we are looking for people with the right mindset, high creativity and drive to learn from our ecosystem of entrepreneurs, investors and industry leaders. We will leverage decades of expertise in building leadership and companies to invest in your future as a creator of new businesses. You will work directly with the TandemLaunch executive team to bring forth the next generation of our ventures.

Responsibilities:

• Source and conduct due diligence on new projects and investment opportunities.
• Source and recruit exceptional people to become future founders of our investments.
• Be actively engaged with our portfolio of ventures, supporting them during their creation and incubation at TandemLaunch and beyond.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Physics or Mathematics with computational specialization and a research publication record.
• Understanding of computer science and computer engineering.
• Passion for innovation, entrepreneurship and technology. Bonus points if new consumer technologies excite you.
• Clear and compelling communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to cultivate, build, and maintain strong working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
• Strong project management skills.
• System thinking and a hands-on approach.
