In this role, you will serve as the technical lead for key strategic projects that require deeper investigation, creative problem-solving, and coordination with multiple teams. You will work closely with a Project Manager, who will oversee scheduling, budgets, and tracking, while you focus on technical scoping, integration, troubleshooting, and direct engagement with trades, vendors, and internal stakeholders to drive each project to completion.
Responsibilities
- Technical Scoping & Solution Design: Evaluate site conditions, electrical infrastructure, and customer needs to design EV charging solutions, including hardware selection, layout, and integration considerations.
- Hands-On Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and communications issues both on-site and at the office/shop, including testing, configuration, and coordination with manufacturers as needed.
- Field & Infrastructure Coordination: Collaborate with utilities, electricians, and site contractors to validate electrical capacity and confirm with trades that permitting and interconnection requirements are satisfied.
- Deployment Oversight: Support installers during installation and commissioning, ensuring chargers and supporting systems (e.g., load management, communications) are configured and operational.
- Internal Strategic Project Support: Contribute technical expertise to internal company initiatives, such as pilot programs, process improvements, or evaluations of new technologies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales, Product, and Operations teams to address technical challenges, ensuring outcomes meet both customer and business needs.
- Customer Engagement: Act as a technical point of contact during deployments, joining site visits, technical reviews, and end-user training as needed.
- Documentation & Handover: Maintain detailed technical records, including site assessments, as-built diagrams, troubleshooting logs, and configuration details.
- Process & Standards Development: Identify recurring challenges in EV charger deployments and internal initiatives, helping refine and standardize solutions for future projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering field; or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in a technical engineering role within EV charging, renewable energy, utilities, or related energy/infrastructure sectors.
- Knowledge of electrical systems and load calculations for commercial/industrial sites.
- Familiarity with Level 2 and DC fast charging equipment, communications protocols (e.g., OCPP), and site-level load management systems preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to perform hands-on technical work, including troubleshooting, configuration, and testing in field and lab environments.
- Strong communicator, able to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Willingness to travel as needed for site visits and deployments.
- Business Impact - As a core member of the operations team, you have the opportunity to take a lead role and make a significant impact on the culture and values of the company.
