We are hiring a Chief Financial Officer to lead our Finance team!

We are looking for a strategic and dynamic CFO who is excited about driving our company to new heights. This role involves leading our financial operations, contributing to strategic planning, and being a core part of our executive team. The ideal candidate will bring a robust financial background, with experience scaling a company's revenue significantly and driving M&A transactions.

Our Spare HQ is in Vancouver, BC, but this position is open to remote work options across Canada. If you like coming into an office, you can work from our HQ as desired, and we also provide a co-working stipend for those who wish to work in an office outside Vancouver.

About the role ✨

In this role you will...
  • Oversee all financial operations, including treasury responsibilities, cash management, and financial forecasting.
  • Develop financial strategies that align with the company's growth targets and manage financial risks.
  • Lead fundraising initiatives, including planning and execution of any potential funding rounds
  • Evaluate and advise on M&A opportunities, and manage investor relations.
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization, working closely with Spare’s Founders, Senior Leadership Team, and Board to align financial strategies with business objectives.
  • Improve operational and financial effectiveness across different business units focused on diverse goals
  • Influence the future direction of the company and drive change within the finance function and broader business operations.
  • Oversee the finance team, ensuring smooth operation of all financial activities and maintaining rigorous financial controls.
  • Work closely with Spare’s Founders,Senior Leadership Team, and Board to align financial strategies with business objectives.

About you ✨

You have...
  • Proven experience as CFO or VP of Finance, ideally within the tech industry, during a period of significant revenue scaling (e.g. scaling from $10M - $100M).
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing comprehensive financial strategies and operations.
  • Strong experience in managing M&A transactions and leading corporate development.
  • Excellent people leadership skills and demonstrated ability to be a persuasive influencer across an executive team.
  • Experience in overseeing finance teams and operations, with a strong capability in strategic and operational finance, including treasury and cash management.
  • Excellent storytelling skills, especially in financial contexts, to support leadership during pitches and presentations.

It will be considered a plus if you have...
  • Experience leading Operations and/or Human Resources teams
