Overview
We’re looking for a motivated and technology-driven Technical Support Engineer - Entry Level to join our team in Ottawa. At Solace, we pride ourselves on delivering unparalleled technical support by solving a broad range of technical problems for a global customer base.
As part of the Solace Support team, you will tackle technical challenges, build a deep understanding of Solace products, and enhance your skills across a range of technologies. You will use your growing expertise to help customers isolate faults and identify root causes. This role is perfect for someone who is eager to learn, loves technology, and wants to make a real impact early in their career.
What You’ll Do
- Work with experienced team members to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges for customers.
- Develop expertise in Solace’s event broker technology, messaging protocols, and modern cloud platforms.
- Provide high-quality support to ensure customer satisfaction and success.
- Contribute to the knowledge base by documenting solutions and sharing insights with the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—such as development, production engineering, and product management—to resolve issues and improve the product.
- Join a 12x7 on-call rotation after completing training(typically one week every six weeks).
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of programming concepts and experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Java, C, Python, or .NET).
- Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- A customer-focused mindset with a passion for solving problems.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with messaging protocols or platforms (e.g., Solace PubSub+, JMS, MQTT) is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux systems is an asset.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
