Softmax Data Inc. is headquartered in Vancouver's downtown core. We are a boutique consultancy specializing in the development of proprietary software for machine learning, data pipeline, and data analytics. Our client portfolio includes industry leaders such as Clio, MoxiWorks, and DomainTools.

We are seeking a Fullstack Developer with strong skills in backend (Rails) and frontend (React and Angular) development. This role requires the individual to collaborate with both internal and external teams to serve one of our core clients. The ideal software engineer should be keen on joining a team that builds innovative software solutions in partnership with external clients. While the primary focus will be working on our client’s projects, there will be opportunities to engage with a broad set of other clients.

Responsibilities

  • Developing critical software features, designing architecture, and providing technical expertise.
  • Driving best practices and development principles, understanding key metrics, and finding ways for the team to continue to improve.
  • Assisting the Engineering Manager with the delivery of product features, managing timelines, and supporting the team by removing blockers and achieving Sprint goals.
  • Helping to reduce the Support backlog by identifying and eliminating the root causes of high-impact issues.
  • Working productively with minimal supervision, as well as enjoying collaboration with others.
  • Training and mentoring junior engineers/developers.

Qualifications

  • Must already possess the legal status to work in Canada.
  • Must be located in either in Vancouver area or willing to relocate to Vancouver in the next 2 months.
  • A minimum of 5 years of development experience with Ruby on Rails.
  • At least 5 years of frontend development experience (with Angular, React, or similar frameworks).
  • Recent experience with tools such as Redis, Sidekiq, Postgres, EKS, Buildkite, and/or other AWS services.
  • A solid understanding of API design, including the pros and cons of network communication between services.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with others.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the capability to manage and simplify complex systems and requirements.
  • Creative and innovative, with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and the ability to lead in feature scoping, architecture, and delivery.

Salary Range

140,000 CAD/YR - 160,000 CAD/YR
