Job Description
Smarter Alloys is a world leader in smart materials innovation, pioneering advanced shape memory materials for applications in medical devices, cleantech, automotive, and beyond. We are looking for a Senior Accountant to help scale and optimize our accounting processes as we continue our rapid growth.
As a Senior Accountant, you’ll play a critical role in preparing monthly financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. In addition you will be responsible for accounts receivable and accounts payable functions including reconciliations with customers and suppliers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting:
Preparing monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to provide insights into the company's financial standing.
Compliance:
Ensuring compliance with local, provincial, and federal tax laws and accounting regulations.
Reconciliations:
Performing reconciliations on bank accounts along with customer and supplier statements.
Collaboration:
Collaborating with CFO and Controller to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Contributing to the implementation of accounting policies and controls.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (or similar field)
- 2–3 years of experience in an accounting position
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams
- These roles require an understanding of accounting principles, proficiency with Sage 50 accounting software (preferred), and excellent problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Recent graduated CPA or currently enrolled in CPA program
