Senior Manager, Engineering

As a Manager or Senior Manager you will lead and grow a high-performing engineering team within a product-driven environment. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the development, delivery, and support of scalable, robust, and high-quality software products. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Ruby on Rails (RoR), React, AWS, and API design, with a proven ability to inspire and manage engineers to deliver exceptional results.

In this role you will..

Team Leadership and Development:

• Lead a team of software engineers, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and career development.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.

Technical Oversight:

• Drive the architecture and development of robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions using Ruby on Rails, React, AWS, and RESTful APIs.
• Conduct design and code reviews to ensure high standards of quality and maintainability.

Product Delivery:

• Collaborate with Product Managers, UX designers, and other stakeholders to define product roadmaps and technical requirements.
• Oversee sprint planning, resource allocation, and project execution to meet deadlines and deliverables.

Operational Excellence:

• Implement best practices in DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure management to ensure high system availability and performance.
• Monitor and optimize application performance, scalability, and security.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Act as a liaison between the engineering team and business stakeholders, translating business needs into technical solutions.
• Communicate project progress, risks, and outcomes to leadership and stakeholders.

You’ve Got What It Takes If You Have…

Technical Expertise:

• Strong hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails, React, and AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda).
• Proficiency in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.

Leadership Experience:

• Proven track record of leading and managing engineering teams in a product company environment.
• Ability to inspire and motivate team members to achieve their highest potential.

Product Mindset:

• Deep understanding of the product lifecycle, from ideation to deployment and iteration.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver customer-centric solutions.

Operational Skills:

• Strong background in Agile methodologies, sprint planning, and resource management.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure automation.

Communication:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
