Job Description

The Senior HR Generalist will support and oversee a broad range of human resources functions across the organization, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll and benefits administration, compliance, performance management, and health and safety coordination.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a hands-on environment and is comfortable balancing day-to-day HR operations with process improvement and organizational support. The successful candidate will work closely with leadership to help strengthen and scale HR systems, policies, and employee programs as the company continues to grow.

Key ResponsibilitiesHR Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation including ESA, OHRC, OHSA, AODA, WSIB, and privacy requirements.
  • Maintain and update HR policies, employee documentation, and workplace procedures.
  • Support leadership with HR best practices, employee relations matters, and workplace compliance.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Manage recruitment activities including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, and hiring support.
  • Participate in interviews and support hiring managers throughout the recruitment process.
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring employees have the tools, access, and documentation required.
  • Continuously improve onboarding processes and employee experience initiatives.

Payroll & Benefits Administration

  • Oversee payroll administration processes to ensure accurate employee compensation and payroll adjustments.
  • Coordinate employee benefits administration and employee leave tracking.
  • Support compensation updates including salary adjustments and bonuses.
  • Assist with payroll-related reporting and documentation.

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions and HR-related matters.
  • Support managers with employee relations concerns, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes.
  • Assist with workplace investigations and employee issue resolution when required.
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and positive workplace environment.

Performance Management & Employee Development

  • Coordinate and support the company’s performance evaluation process across departments.
  • Help develop and improve performance review tools, documentation, and workflows.
  • Work closely with leadership and managers to support goal setting, employee feedback, and development planning.
  • Assist in promoting consistent and fair performance management practices throughout the organization.
  • Support employee growth and development initiatives through training and performance-related discussions.

Learning & Development

  • Coordinate employee training and professional development initiatives.
  • Maintain training records and required workplace certifications.
  • Support leadership in identifying development opportunities and skill gaps across teams.

Health & Safety Coordination

  • Support and coordinate workplace health and safety programs and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain required safety training records including forklift certification, working at heights, and other workplace safety programs.
  • Assist with Joint Health and Safety Committee administration and workplace safety documentation.
  • Support preparation for workplace inspections and audits.

Employee Engagement & Workplace Culture

  • Support initiatives that promote employee engagement and workplace culture.
  • Coordinate with the Office Admin team to support internal events and activities that contribute to team morale.
  • Assist leadership in maintaining a positive, collaborative, and respectful workplace environment.

HR Reporting & Operations Support

  • Maintain accurate HR records and employee data.
  • Track HR metrics including headcount, turnover, absenteeism, and training records.
  • Assist with HR reporting and administrative projects.
  • Support improvements to HR processes, systems, and internal workflows.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of experience in an HR Generalist, HR Operations, or similar HR role.
  • Diploma or degree in Human Resources Management or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Experience supporting HR functions in a manufacturing, technical, or operational environment is considered an asset.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems such as Humi, ADP, or Employment Hero.
  • CHRP designation is considered an asset.
