The Role

The HR Manager will oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes within the organization, supporting the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, payroll and benefits administration, and health and safety programs. This role ensures compliance with applicable employment legislation and works closely with leadership to maintain effective HR systems and foster a positive and productive work environment. As the company continues to grow, the HR Manager will help establish and scale HR policies, systems, and processes that support a strong and sustainable workplace culture.

Key ResponsibilitiesHR Compliance & Policy Management

  • Ensure company compliance with all applicable employment legislation (ESA, OHRC, OHSA, AODA, WSIB, privacy laws).
  • Develop, update, and maintain company policies, employee handbook materials, and HR documentation.
  • Maintain legally required workplace policies including harassment and violence prevention.
  • Advise leadership on HR best practices, compliance requirements, and risk mitigation.

Payroll & Benefits Oversight

  • Oversee payroll administration to ensure accurate processing of salary payments, deductions, and adjustments.
  • Manage employee benefits programs and coordinate with benefits providers.
  • Monitor vacation, sick leave, and other employee leave entitlements.
  • Implement compensation changes including salary adjustments and bonuses.
  • Support terminations and offboarding processes related to payroll and benefits.

Talent Acquisition

  • Manage the recruitment process from job posting through hiring.
  • Review applications and shortlist qualified candidates.
  • Coordinate interview schedules and participate in the interview process.
  • Maintain job postings across recruitment platforms such as Indeed and LinkedIn.
  • Identify and explore new recruitment channels to attract top talent.

Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and ensure completion of all required documentation.
  • Continuously improve onboarding processes to enhance employee experience.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure new employees have the resources required to begin their roles.

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding workplace questions or concerns.
  • Support managers with employee relations matters including conflict resolution and disciplinary processes.
  • Conduct workplace investigations when necessary.
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and positive workplace culture.

Performance Management

  • Design and manage the company’s performance review process.
  • Develop evaluation tools and performance criteria.
  • Ensure consistent and fair performance evaluations across teams.
  • Support leadership in making decisions related to promotions, compensation adjustments, and employee development.

Learning & Development

  • Coordinate employee training programs and professional development initiatives.
  • Maintain records of required employee training and certifications.
  • Identify skill gaps and recommend training opportunities to support employee growth.

HR Reporting & Workforce Planning

  • Maintain accurate HR records and employee data.
  • Track HR metrics such as headcount, turnover, and absenteeism.
  • Provide HR reporting and insights to leadership to support decision-making.
  • Support workforce planning and organizational development initiatives.

Health & Safety Management

  • Oversee the company’s health and safety program and ensure compliance with OHSA requirements.
  • Support and maintain the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Maintain required safety training including forklift certification, working at heights, and other workplace safety programs.
  • Prepare the organization for potential safety inspections or audits.
  • Stay current with workplace safety legislation and regulatory updates.

Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Support initiatives that promote employee engagement and workplace culture.
  • Coordinate with the Office Admin to support internal events and activities that contribute to team morale and workplace culture.
  • Assist leadership in maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Human Resources Management or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in an HR generalist or HR management role.
  • Experience supporting HR functions in a manufacturing, technical, or operational environment is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems such as Humi, ADP, or Employment Hero
