What it means to be Lead Software Developer\
We get it, you want to know what you’re signing up for before you apply, right? This is what you need to know. As a Lead Software Developer at Paved, you’ll be responsible for:
Leading the design and development of scalable backend and frontend systems
Guiding architectural decisions and reviewing significant PRs for quality, clarity, and scalability
Mentoring junior and mid-level developers to support career growth and high-quality output
Working with Product, Design, and Growth teams to plan, estimate, and ship impactful features
Owning technical scoping and ensuring reliable execution across projects
Driving engineering best practices including CI/CD, testing coverage, logging, and monitoring
Collaborating on roadmap planning and technical prioritization

You’ve completed onboarding and are fully set up with access and tools
You’ve met your teammates and gained a high-level understanding of the codebase and tech stack
You’ve reviewed open PRs and started contributing to smaller tickets

After 1 month
You’ve taken ownership of a core part of the product and led the design or implementation of a feature
You’ve reviewed and merged code from across the team and offered constructive feedback
You’ve contributed architectural input to ongoing projects and supported in backlog grooming sessions

You're recognized as a go-to technical leader and a trusted mentor to your teammates
You’ve driven a major technical initiative from design through deployment, delivering measurable value
You’ve helped shape process improvements across the engineering org, including testing, deployment, or reliability strategies
What we would like to see in you

6+ years of professional software development experience
Proven experience leading technical projects and mentoring developers
Proficiency in modern full-stack development, we use Ruby on Rails, React, Postgres, and Redshift
Strong understanding of system design, architectural patterns, and scalability tradeoffs
Deep experience with version control, CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and cloud infrastructure
A thoughtful communicator who values clarity and empathy in technical discussions
Ability to balance fast-paced shipping with a high standard for quality and maintainability
Bonus
Experience working on ad tech, marketplace platforms, or newsletter tooling
