Our most recent news is that we were acquired by a Canadian company called Redbrick. Redbrick is the parent organization of a wide portfolio of disruptive digital companies headquartered in Victoria, British Columbia.

As one of Redbrick’s 5 portfolio companies, Animoto makes it easy for anyone to turn photos, screen recordings, and short clips into professional branded videos. Our Animoto team is 36 people strong and works closely with Redbrick’s shared People & Culture, finance, and creative/marketing teams.

About the role

Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for driving Animoto’s marketing strategy and lead a team of dedicated marketing professionals. You will be expected to supervise the marketing operations, develop holistic marketing strategies to drive growth, and ensure that they are aligned with the company's overall strategic direction. You will collaborate with cross-functional team members, including leaders across the Animoto and Redbrick businesses, design, engineering, marketing, and customer operations to support the growth of business.

What does a day look like in my role?

We get it, you want to know what you’re signing up for before you apply, right? As a Director of Marketing at Animoto, you will:

  • Lead the development and implementation of channel, segment, and messaging strategies that drive growth and strengthen Animoto’s brand presence
  • Manage marketing budgets, allocate resources strategically to maximize ROI on marketing investments and achieve desired outcomes
  • Oversee the creation, execution, and optimization of marketing campaigns across multiple channels, including SEO, social media, email, events, affiliate/partner programs, and paid advertising
  • Develop, execute, and oversee comprehensive content marketing strategy to position Animoto as thought leaders in the video space to drive traffic and brand awareness with our key target audiences
  • Oversee and manage template strategy, template production, merchandising, and budget
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success of marketing campaigns against goals (ROI and KPIs) and adjust strategies as needed
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including executive leadership, sales, product, and customer operations to ensure marketing strategies are well-aligned with the overall business goals and company strategy
  • Champion and drive a data-driven culture of testing, measurement, and results reporting throughout the entire marketing organization
  • Manage, lead, and mentor a team of dedicated marketing professionals, working to acquire new users, nurture customers, and improve retention, by providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities
  • Be a steward of the Animoto brand internally and externally, guiding all channels and departments to align with the brand vision and ensure a consistent brand experience throughout the entirety of the user journey
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the marketing team
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and user data insights to inform marketing strategy, campaign optimization and identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation

After 1 week:

  • You’ve had a warm Animoto welcome and met our entire marketing team plus other key individuals you’ll be working with across the organization to understand current processes and goals
  • You have an understanding of our software and are starting to familiarize yourself with our audience, target market, and marketing data

After 1 month:

  • You have completed a review of existing marketing materials, strategies, campaigns, and results to assess strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.
  • You have an understanding of the marketing team dynamics, individual’s skill sets and strengths and have identified potential areas for development
  • You have built a rapport with direct reports and key stakeholders across the organization to understand their perspectives and goals and are circulating ideas to build trust and alignment
  • You have developed an high-level understanding of users and target market including their pain points, needs, and preferences

After 6 months:

  • You have identified and executed on various opportunities and have measurable results and early wins to showcase
  • You have a developed deep understanding of our audience, users, and target market through interviews, data analysis, and research
  • You have a well-defined a marketing strategy and plan, outlining short-term and long-term goals and initiatives to drive brand awareness and revenue growth

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others to achieve their full potential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Experience in establishing and growing and affiliate and partner program
