Import/Export Transportation Coordinator

Senstar has an opening for an energetic and detail-oriented Import/Export Transportation Coordinator to join our Operations team in Ottawa, reporting to the VP Operations. This is an opportunity to step into an established role that plays an important part in supporting our day-to-day operations and global supply chain activities.
This role requires a highly dependable individual who exercises sound judgment, strong attention to detail, and a high degree of accountability, particularly during critical quarterly periods where errors may materially impact revenue timing. The Import/Export Transportation Coordinator will work onsite as a valued member of our Operations team, helping to ensure the timely, accurate, and compliant movement of goods.
The position includes...
- Coordinating shipments from suppliers, manufacturers, and customers to ensure timely delivery of goods
- Liaising with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other logistics providers to arrange transportation and manage the shipping process
- Acting as a point of contact for internal team members, external vendors, and customers to address inquiries, provide shipment updates, and resolve issues that may arise during the import/export process
- Managing and maintaining accurate records of all import/export transactions, including bills of lading, packing slips, certificates of origin, customs declarations, invoices, and other required shipping documents
- Managing specialized shipment processes, including Return Material Authorization (RMA), ATA Carnet, and Temporary Import Bond (TIB) shipments, ensuring proper documentation, compliance, and timely execution
- Ensuring compliance with customs regulations and requirements for both imports and exports through the accurate preparation and review of documentation
- Applying a general understanding of trade agreements and related requirements to support effective and compliant logistics operations
- Supporting the continued development and improvement of import/export procedures and best practices
What you bring...
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in a logistics, shipping, transportation, or import/export role
- College diploma in business, supply chain management, international transportation and customs, or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of import/export documentation and customs compliance requirements
- Experience working with freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, and other logistics providers
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office; experience with freight forwarding or shipping software is an asset
- Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), including lithium batteries; TDG certification is an asset
- Adaptable and able to work effectively with a diverse group of people
- Self-motivated with a strong team orientation
- Enthusiastic, energetic, and positive working attitude
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex or ambiguous information
