Who we are:

We are a bunch of people who really care about agriculture, food and the challenges facing farming. We want to help farmers with data driven decision making to help nature feed a growing population. Join our team of expert engineers, agronomists, entomologists, crop researchers, and data scientists who are continually conducting research to help drive innovation in agriculture.

Semios is a market leader in leveraging the internet-of-things (IoT) and big data to improve the sustainability and profitability of specialty crops. With 500 million data points being reported by our sensors every day, we leverage our big data analytics, such as in-depth pest and disease modeling, to empower tree fruit and tree nut growers with decision-making tools to minimize resources and risks.

Our innovative work has received several industry awards:

One of our partners produced this short video which shows what we do and our positive environmental impact. We know our journey is only achievable by having a great team who shares ideas, tries new things and learns as we go.

Who you are:

Motivated by meaningful work, you are looking for more than just a job; you want to work for a dynamic, growing company that finds solutions to real-life problems, such as helping the world reduce the use of pesticides and helping nature feed a growing population. Your ideal work environment includes a collaborative team spirit with the opportunity to learn and grow as you take the initiative to try new things.

You are a chemist by training and are interested in where chemistry goes after it leaves the bench. You’re ready to take on more responsibility, and expand on your skill set with exposure to other areas of science and engineering as well as the business context of how products are manufactured and how they are regulated, saving the environment in the process.

You thrive when you’re solving complex technical problems and brainstorming creative solutions. You’re a highly organized “do-er” and a stickler for good process, able to manage multiple conflicting priorities. You enjoy being a domain knowledge expert, managing projects across departments and countries, working with multiple external stakeholders and agents, making risk management decisions and communicating technical results with ease. You’re excited about the idea of helping growers gain access to safe and effective alternatives to conventional pesticides.

What you will do:

Regulatory Submission Management

  • Manage a database of active submissions, registered products, and regulatory documentation
  • Maintain our product renewal calendar and keep up to date with changes to the regulatory landscape
  • Coordinate with our suppliers and partners to gather technical data and interpret it for inclusion within regulatory submissions
  • Manage external consultants to identify and manage compliance risk, gather requirements, and collaborate cross functionally to gather data and draft submissions in our global market

Chemical Quality Control

  • Contribute to the ongoing quality management of our chemical products, including in-lab support, documentation support, and quality process management
  • Perform laboratory experiments including analytical chemistry testing and product performance testing
  • Review experimental data, experimental design, and reports
  • Characterize and communicate quality risk to internal and external teams
  • Support laboratory safety and administration

Supply Chain and Manufacturing

  • Work with our supply chain team to establish labeling requirements for our products, and onboard new labels with our manufacturers
  • Support product onboarding and change notifications with suppliers
  • Act as the regulatory expert for our chemical manufacturing teams

We want you to succeed, so you will need:

  • Degree in chemistry, biochemistry or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years working with analytical chemistry equipment
  • Experience managing project including requirements gathering and risk management
  • Experience working with and writing technical documentation or regulatory documentation
  • Experience with managing external agencies: budgeting, statement of work, managing deliverables
  • Proven track record being resourceful, finding the right information to inform decision making
  • Able to maintain detailed and highly organized documentation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to manage multiple projects at once
  • Able to problem solve, characterize risk, and communicate urgency

Nice to have:

  • Experience in regulatory affairs for pesticide products or similar registered and controlled products
  • Experience with lab management
  • Experience with reviewing and editing regulated product labels

Why this is the opportunity for you:

  • Sleep better knowing you're making the world a better place through more sustainable food production
  • Opportunity to contribute and make an impact by working on meaningful projects
  • Work with a team that values fun, laughter, and each other in collaborative and casual work environment
  • Multiple office locations, convenient via transit and bike paths
  • Flexible hybrid working environment and hours
