System/Network Administrator
Scribendi, a leading online language services company, seeks an ambitious System/Network Administrator to join our IT team. At Scribendi, you will participate in mission-critical projects and join a small group of forward-thinking administrators and developers working in an agile environment. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, organizing, modifying, and supporting our infrastructure and computer systems, and you must ensure the high availability of all critical systems and network infrastructure using the latest best practices.
You will work with cutting-edge technologies, learn how they are applied in the ecommerce sector, and collaborate extensively with stakeholders and the development team to achieve ambitious goals. This role is for a self-starter with good communication skills, a good work ethic, and a desire to ensure that our infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.
Who you are
Reporting to the IT Manager, the System/Network Administrator will be responsible for delivering high-quality, cost-effective systems and networking solutions to all levels of users, both on-site and remotely.
Required
- Degree in information technology, computer science, or a related discipline
- Experience working with the technologies, or similar technologies, listed below
- Experience with server and network hardware configuration and troubleshooting
- Strong understanding of information security standards, policies, and tools (system security, email security, antivirus/antimalware, proxies, firewalls, data encryption, certificates, etc.)
- Working knowledge of high availability (HA) and disaster recovery concepts
- Experience with proactive monitoring and alerting tools
- Strong shell scripting skills
- Can work independently and in a group to manage full scope of responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Be able to respond to system events after hours, on a limited basis, if required
- Must be able to commute to the Chatham office on a regular and emergency basis
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Preferred
- Relevant professional certifications
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, and Google Workspace
- Experience with Unified Endpoint Solutions
- Experience working with containerization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience working with IT automation technologies, such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, and Vagrant
What you will do
- Deploy, maintain, and monitor physical and virtual networks and infrastructure
- Deploy, maintain, and monitor Windows Servers, Active Directory, Azure AD Connect, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), WSUS, and other supporting technologies
- Provision, maintenance, and repair of systems and user workstations
- Proactively monitor networks and systems to ensure availability and optimal performance
- Maintain and troubleshoot network and system performance issues
- Maintain and configure security technologies, such as firewalls, endpoint security, email security, and data encryption
- Ensure the integrity of communication channels, such as email, VoIP phone system, and instant messaging
- Collaborate with vendors to troubleshoot issues
- Participate in procurement and perform vendor analyses
- Provide IT support to local staff and systems
- Respond promptly to security or usability concerns
- Manage the configuration of operating systems
- Ensure the integrity of data storage and backup solutions
- Assist in budget and resource planning
- Build technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies
- Maintain IT asset inventory
- Work closely with the IT Manager
