Job Overview:
In this role you will be responsible for all procurement-related activities for an assigned group of commodities and/or vendors. This includes responsibility to maintain all aspects of our vendor relationship management. You will coordinate all activities related to the procurement of materials, parts, equipment, and supplies, beginning with intent to purchase through delivery, throughout the life of the component/part. This requires focus on delivery schedules at negotiated prices and quality standard acceptance and responsibility for corrective action to maintain the long-term viability of the supply chain. You will also assist where needed to support development of less senior buyers within the team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Extensive understanding of critical elements of the supply chain, particularly regarding the vendor, product, or commodity relevant to the role.
- Expert ability to interpret technical documentation (e.g., specifications, drawings) to align Ross Video's requirements with suitable vendors, or to identify when external sourcing is necessary.
- Proficiency in intermediate to advanced purchasing functions within an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform.
- Responsible for coordinating with Production Control to advance product movement through Manufacturing, especially when forecast demands increase. This involves working with Production Planning and senior buyers/manager as required .
- Collaborate with the R&D Lab to recommend and select suppliers for new products.
- Regular analysis of new product or commodity requirements to ensure timely delivery at competitive prices. Contributing to reliable revenue and timely delivery to Ross customers.
- Extensive collaboration with the R&D department to meet New Product Introduction (NPI) requirements.
- Maintain or establish best practices in supply chain management with vendors, including Kanban, Demand Pull, and Purchase Schedules.
- Negotiate prices to enhance corporate profitability and competitiveness in the Live Production marketplace, with senior buyer/manager support if required manager support.
- Oversee quality assurance to manage costs and ultimately achieve customer satisfaction. Address quality issues with vendors as needed, consulting with manger as needed.
- Maintain effective inventory control as a key component of cash management to support the company's fiscal health.
- Identify , recruit, and develop secondary suppliers (alternative vendors) to mitigate supply chain risks and improve outcomes.
- Support senior buyers with soliciting quotes, negotiating costs, and executing purchase agreements that balance cost, quality, and scheduling requirements.
- Negotiate and implement long-term Purchase Agreements, guidance from Senior Buyers as required .
- Maintain control over orders, amendments, shipping notices, and related documents.
- Reschedule and expedite relevant purchase orders to meet production plans while minimizing inventory levels.
- Expedite and communicate shortages, escalating issues to the team where necessary.
- Able to procure Purchase Requisitions for non-MRP-related items and requests for samples from R&D, Test Department, Manufacturing, and Sales teams.
- Maintain accurate data on standard costs, lead times, and other relevant information.
- Adhere to all Ross policies and procedures related to safe purchasing and, where appropriate , health and safety guidelines.
- Work under the direction and assistance of management as needed.
- Manage a medium-value, medium-risk, or medium complexity portfolio.
- Collaborate closely with Planning, Production, Process Engineering, Product NPI teams (R&D), Warehouse, and senior buyers.
- Perform other related duties as required .
- Bachelor's Degree, Community College diploma in Supply Chain Management (SCM), or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Working towards or holding a Supply Chain certification.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in standard office tools (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook); MRP system experience is preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of manufacturing processes related to the assigned items.
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of business relationships within the supply chain ecosystem, including roles and responsibilities of manufacturers, representatives, and distributors.
- Open to mentoring by a more experienced Buyer or Purchasing Manager.
- Willing to mentor less senior Buyers
- Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proficient in working with both technical and non-technical staff.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in completing tasks.
- Strong planning, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (English).
- Ability to make decisions aligned with the company's best interests.
- Able to work across multiple functional areas.
- Positive, solution-focused attitude with a commitment to making decisions that benefit the business.
- Experience in the Broadcast industry is an asset.

Salary Information:
The pay range for this role in Canada is: $66,500-$92,00 CAD
The listed salary reflects the pay range for a role based in Canada. Compensation may differ based on alternate locations if listed. Final compensation will be determined by location, skills, experience, knowledge, and role-specific qualifications, and may be adjusted to recognize candidates accordingly.
