Job Overview:

This role is responsible for managing global indirect tax compliance across VAT, GST, and US sales and use tax, with a combined focus on strategic leadership and hands-on execution. The Indirect Tax Manager leads indirect tax filings across multiple jurisdictions, prepares complex returns where required, and ensures full compliance with evolving global tax regulations. The Indirect Tax Manager also supports business operations by advising on the indirect tax impact of cross-border transactions, digital services, and market expansion. In addition, it drives process improvements, automation initiatives, and audit readiness, while working closely with Finance, the Direct and Customs Tax teams, and cross-functional sales and procurement support teams to align tax operations with broader business objectives. As the company expands its global footprint and digital product offerings, indirect tax complexity is increasing. This role ensures the business remains compliant while supporting growth through strategic input and operational excellence. It’s a critical bridge between tax compliance, systems, and commercial execution.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and support a small team of indirect tax professionals or external compliance partners.
  • Allocate compliance responsibilities across the team and provide oversight on quality and deadlines.

Tax Advisory Support

  • Provide practical, business-aligned advice on indirect tax implications of global sales, digital services, product launches, intercompany arrangements, and supply chain design.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Finance, members of the Direct and Customs Tax teams, Sales Ops and procurement support teams) to ensure tax-compliant business operations and scalable solutions.

Systems, Process, and Automation

  • Maintain and enhance indirect tax settings in ERP systems (e.g., LN) and tax engines (e.g., Vertex).

  • Ensure documentation and data retention policies are met for audit readiness.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate indirect tax risks through strong controls and oversight.

Who You Are:

  • 7–10 years of experience in indirect tax roles with a mix of hands-on compliance and strategic oversight, preferably in a global high-tech, SaaS, or e-commerce environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with U.S. sales and use tax compliance (required), including multi-state filings, alongside VAT/GST in other jurisdictions.
  • Deep working knowledge of U.S. indirect tax rules and practical application, with the ability to independently prepare and review complex U.S. filings.
  • Experience managing or mentoring tax professionals and/or third-party compliance providers.
  • Strong technical knowledge of global indirect tax rules and emerging digital tax requirements (e.g., e-invoicing, marketplace rules).
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Infor LN) and tax automation tools (e.g., Vertex).
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills; experience with automation tools is a plus.
