Job Overview:
We are seeking an Intermediate Component Engineer to join the Component Engineering and Change Management team. This role is ideal for someone who understands the electronics industry, enjoys solving component-level challenges, and can effectively collaborate across engineering, supply chain, and supplier networks. You will be responsible for selecting, evaluating, and managing electronic and electromechanical components used in our products, ensuring continuity of supply, compliance, and optimal performance.

What the job is all about:
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify electronic and electromechanical components for new and existing products.
- Maintain component libraries, approved vendor lists (AVLs), and documentation within PLM systems.
- Analyze component lifecycle status, risks (EOL, obsolescence), and propose mitigation strategies.
- Work closely with design engineers to suggest suitable alternatives that meet technical, regulatory, reliability, and cost requirements.
- Engage with suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors to gather technical information, availability details, and market insights.
- Support sourcing activities by assessing supplier capability, price trends, lead times, and emerging technologies.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to resolve supply issues, negotiate alternatives, and ensure long-term component strategies.
- Work with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure component selections align with design objectives and production requirements.
- Participate in design reviews, providing component-level expertise and risk assessments.
- Assist documentation teams with accurate BOM creation and updates.
- Interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, datasheets
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in component engineering, hardware engineering, or similar roles in the electronics industry.
- Strong understanding of electronic components (active, passive, electromechanical) and their specifications.
- Familiarity with component lifecycle management tools, compliance requirements (RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals), and reliability considerations.
- Ability to analyze datasheets, compare technical parameters, and make informed recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both internal teams and external suppliers.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines is highly valued.
- Experience working with PLM systems.
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles, CAD drawings, and packaging constraints.
- Background in manufacturing environments or design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Understanding of supply-chain challenges, sourcing strategies, and cost-improvement initiatives.
