Job overview:
The Manager, Technical Solutions, directly manages the Technical Solutions team, comprised of 8 Solutions Architects and 2 Project Managers geographically dispersed across Europe, Middle East and Africa. As a working Manager, this role performs the duties of a people leader responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Technical Solutions Team, while also contributing to the design of complex solutions that meet the needs of Ross customers. This hands-on, technical Management role demands a combination of well-honed pre-sales engineering experience, communication skills and problem-solving ability. The Manager, Technical Solutions, will be an effective people leader and ensure that the SA team is well trained and capable of supporting sales opportunities across the entire portfolio of Ross Solutions. This role will provide advanced expertise, including technical and commercial advice on complex, strategic projects, while also contributing to ongoing improvements within the Technical Solutions department in collaboration with the Vice President of Sales, EMEA.

What the job is all about:
Team Leadership:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Technical Solutions Team, ensuring a high-performing, collaborative, and customer-centric culture. Champion operational excellence in pre-sales and project delivery through effective delegation, project prioritization, and structured team workflows.
- Own the full employee lifecycle for the Solutions Architects team, including strategic workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth by delivering tailored coaching, mentoring, and development programs. Define clear performance expectations and career progression pathways to retain and grow top talent.
- Proactively evaluating the team’s capabilities and driving improvement in quality and performance of the team, developing systems and processes to elevate team performance and solution quality.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure team effectiveness, drive accountability, and ensure alignment with business goals.
Technical Expertise:
- Guide the development of innovative, scalable technical solutions that meet complex customer requirements.
- Oversee the creation and refinement of technical designs and documentation, ensuring consistency and excellence across the team.
- Create technical drawings to address specified requirements, while also developing generalized variations for use by other groups at Ross. Part of this process involves evaluating technical deficiencies and proposing improvements to these solutions that maximize value for Ross Video.
- Provide strategic oversight of solution design activities, ensuring optimal resource allocation based on team expertise and project priorities.
- Participates and contributes to sales opportunities – including virtual and in-person exploration meetings –driven by the Regional Sales Managers to align solutions designed to meet our customers’ business requirements.
- Proactively educates and provides professional development to the broader sales team, as well as Ross business partners to enhance their product knowledge, technical acumen, and technical sales skills.
- Act as a senior technical advisor in customer engagements, supporting sales opportunities and ensuring alignment between customer needs and Ross Video’s capabilities.
- Provides valuable and actionable customer feedback and market intelligence to Product Management teams on product & application requirements.
- Engage in customer facing product demonstrations, demos, training and workflow guidance to customers and business partners at their sites or at tradeshows.
- Travel to customer sites to conduct site surveys in preparation for bid responses and to evaluate potential sales opportunities.
- Support the Sales Team’s efforts at major trade shows (e.g. IBC), and other industry events.
Who you are:
- 8 years' experience in a complex sales environment primarily in direct Sales, Sales Engineering, Presales, Systems Applications, Product Specialist roles.
- 3+ years’ management experience; experience managing a team of Solutions Architects or Pre-Sales Engineers is highly desirable.
- Record of achievement and technical solutions expertise in a customer facing environment.
- Strong knowledge of both Broadcast & non-broadcast systems and technology, including Production Control Rooms, master control, routing solutions, as well as strong understanding of industry standard protocols, connectors, and terminations.
- Practical knowledge of the broadcast and live production industry, including familiarity with key components used in broadcast electronics applications, industry standard protocols (including SMPTE 2110 IP and its implementation), product lines, key accounts, and competitors of Ross Video.
- Proficient in both Desktop and Server Networking practices.
- Deep knowledge of pre-sales engineering principles, methods, practices and techniques.
- Experienced user of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio / CAD / Vectorworks, with a strong track record of producing complex technical drawings with consistency and accuracy.
- Experienced user of commercial quoting platforms and sales tools, including CRM software (ideally Salesforce.com).
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills; written, in-person and virtually.
- Well-versed people leader determined to facilitate the growth & development of the technical solutions team on a global scale.
- Strong and creative problem-solving skills.
- Calm under pressure with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Natural mentor who demonstrates leadership and/or coaching skills applicable to the onboarding and training of new team members.
