This position is located at our main Ottawa campus on Auriga Drive. We work in a hybrid work environment where team members come into the office once a week for collaboration and sprint ceremonies. Other in-office opportunities include participating in demos, and Ross Video team activities that are hosted on-site.

What the job is all about:

Reporting to the Software Manager of Media I/O, the ideal candidate is an integral part of our high performing Media I/O product development team, driving the creation of world-leading next-generation broadcast technology. You focus will be on ensuring the quality of our products through both manual and automated testing. You will create test plans, write test cases, add tests to our automated test framework and execute manual tests. You will log bugs using JIRA.

Our automated test framework uses Cucumber, Serenity, Selenium and Rest Assured. Test cases test both web user interface and API interactions.

We follow the Agile model of product development which means that you will collaborate closely with the team and our product owner to make sure the product is functioning as intended and everyone is on the same page. We work in 2-week sprints; and you will participate in sprint ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily standups, and end-of-sprint demonstrations, reviews and retrospectives.


Who you are:

  • At least 2 years of experience in product verification.
  • Experience testing web-based software applications.
  • Some knowledge or experience with automation.
  • Solid Java knowledge to be used in both UI and API testing.
  • HTML knowledge for web user interface testing.
  • Knowledge of Gherkin language is an asset.
  • Any knowledge of the broadcast industry would be great!
  • A strong desire and motivation to test software and try and break things.
  • Curious about how things work and how they could be improved.
  • A love of technology and outstanding trouble-shooting skills.
  • Able to voice your opinions and give constructive criticism when you see things that are broken or can be improved upon.
  • A self-starter with a passion for learning and improving.
  • Care about the details and are willing to invest the time to verify that our product runs correctly.
  • Excellent organization, time management and communication skills.
  • A desire to have fun!
