What the job is all about:

Benefits Management:

Coordinates benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, pension, and wellness. Primary contact for all broker and vendor relationships. Ross currently has plans in Canada, US, Australia, UK, Netherlands, Singapore, China and expat.

  • Responsible for the administration of Pension and Benefits plans for all Ross locations.
  • Reviews and resolves employee benefit issues and concerns regarding account and/or services issues with our vendors.
  • Reconciliation and remittance of benefit, pension, wellness and health and safety billing to ensure premiums are paid accurately.
  • Administer annual open enrolment process in the US and other annual updates to plans.
  • Participates in annual benefit renewal process, provide census data, analyze proposals of renewal rates with carriers.
  • Participate in the annual benefits budget process.
  • Participates in year-end process, including data review and taxable benefits calculations.
  • Coordinate with Dayforce team to ensure employee information via file feeds and other reports are updating vendors accurately.
  • Analyze trends from a benefits perspective and assist with the development and competitiveness of programs.
  • Coordinate with the Wellness Committee with a focus on developing programs to support educating and adoption of programs.
  • Conduct routine review of plans to ensure compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Ensures HR Hub has accurate information on benefits programs and create training material as required.

Leave Management:

Coordinates the support for all sick leave and workers’ compensation claims including general administration, case management, modified/gradual return to work plans and program compliance with legislation.

Coordinates maternity, parental and adoption leave including calculation of payments and return to work dates.

  • Serves as the subject matter expert for the leave and workers’ compensation programs for all countries Ross operates in.
  • Administers all aspects of leave and workers’ compensation programs. Provides case management and coordinates administrative aspects of the cases and claims.
  • Works closely with payroll to track hours and manage all administrative aspects of leave and workers’ compensation claims.
  • Works closely with employees to ensure that all relevant completed medical documents are provided.
  • Partners closely with all HR business partners on all leave cases and workers’ compensation claims. Meets regularly with HRBPs to review claims’ status and develops strategies for resolution.
  • Maintains appropriate contact with all employees on leave and coordinates all aspects of return to work.
  • Coordinates with Health & Safety Specialist for accommodations for returning employees.
  • Tracks leaves and report on metrics/analytics as requested.

Other:

  • Assist with special HR projects and initiatives as required. Perform other related duties as required.

Who you are:

  • Post secondary education in Business Administration, Accounting, or HR and 5 years’ experience in a Benefits/HR environment.
  • Knowledge of benefits and pension theory and practice, with the ability to use judgment in applying this knowledge when dealing with complex and confidential issues.
  • Strong understanding of benefits and pension legislation and compliance/filing requirements.
  • Knowledge of benefits in the US and other countries is a benefit.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with confidential information with a high degree of diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Team player but able to work independently.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Working knowledge of Ceridian (Dayforce) payroll software or comparable software.
  • Experience with report writing software is an asset.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Excel.
