ROLE DESCRIPTION:
The Provincial Medical Lead (British Columbia) plays a key leadership role within the BC MD Leadership Team, working alongside the existing Alberta Lead to strengthen, expand, and optimize Rocket Doctor’s presence in BC.
This role focuses heavily on growing the BC provider community, improving clinical operations within the province, and supporting physicians practicing on the platform. The Provincial Medical Lead will support recruitment efforts, build physician engagement, help shape provincial workflows, and ensure a high-quality experience for both patients and providers in BC.
In addition to BC-focused leadership, the Provincial Medical Lead participates in broader MD Lead initiatives to support cross-provincial alignment and company-wide growth.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (BC-FOCUSED)
Grow and Strengthen BC’s Physician Presence
- Support the Provider Success team in recruiting, onboarding, and retaining Alberta physicians.
- Help build a strong provincial physician community and encourage ongoing clinical engagement.
Support Provincial Operations & Quality
- Investigate and respond to patient, provider, or PCC-raised concerns related to BC care.
- Review and refine clinical workflows specific to BC to improve efficiency, compliance, and physician ease of practice.
- Maintain close communication with practicing BC physicians, including active presence on Slack and participation in local meetings.
Strategic Specialty Leadership
- Serve as a clinical leader supporting the growth of BC’s virtual care presence.
- Liaise with BC health authorities, organizations, and partners as appropriate.
- Provide input on BC-specific product needs, regulatory considerations, and physician experience improvements.
MD ADVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES (CROSS-PROVINCIAL)
While the role is Alberta-focused, the Provincial Medical Lead also participates in the MD Advisor team:
- Attend and contribute to MD Advisory meetings.
- Support initial onboarding of new physicians across provinces as needed.
- Partner with the product and operations teams on improvement initiatives.
- Provide troubleshooting support on emerging physician issues across all provinces.
- Assist with communications and strategic updates for physicians and Rocket Doctor staff.
- Help coordinate physician meetings and engagement events across Canada.
EXPECTATIONS:
- Serve as a positive, solutions-focused representative of Rocket Doctor’s BC medical leadership.
- Maintain professionalism as outlined by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of the BC medical landscape and virtual care environment.
- Maintain clear records of recommendations and decisions.
- Knowledge of Rocket Doctor’s EMR, platform extensions, and applicable privacy regulations in Canada and the United States (HIPAA, PHIPA, PIPEDA) is considered an asset.
- Handle all confidential company and patient information with discretion.
COMPENSATION:
- The position is estimated to be an average of 4 hours per week (negotiable) and will be compensated recognizing physician value in equity (company shares) according to current Rocket Doctor policy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed to practise medicine in BC;
- Strong familiarity with the BC healthcare system, workflows, and physician community.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving digital health environment.
- Experience in medical leadership, administration, or business is an asset.
WORK / TRAVEL:
- Fully remote within Canada.
- Occasional travel may be required.
