At Rise, we’re changing how work happens and how people work. We’d love for you to join us and experience the most positive, challenging, and transformative part of your career.

About the role

Do you love working with technology and helping customers succeed? We are looking for a tech-savvy payroll expert who is passionate about delivering the 'perfect pay run' and providing the legislative peace of mind our clients depend on.

As a Managed Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for the full-cycle administration, management, and processing of payroll for a diverse portfolio of clients. This is an execution-focused role where you are "in the driver's seat," ensuring every deduction, remittance, and pay statement is accurate and compliant.

In this role, you will tailor the experience to each client’s unique needs, ensuring they get maximum value from our solution. Your goal is to instill total confidence in our ability to manage their payroll accurately, pay run after pay run.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong technical aptitude, and enjoys working with clients to drive successful software adoption. You have significant experience in full-cycle payroll administration and a deep grasp of Canadian payroll legislation. If you are bilingual in English and French, you’ll bring even more value to this key position.

The Day-to-Day

  • Lead clients through their scheduled pay cycles, ensuring every pay run is executed with 100% accuracy and on time.

  • Deep-dive into each client’s unique business structure to identify specific compliance needs, ensuring all account configurations protect the client and their employees.

  • Maintain rigorous records of all communications and payroll adjustments. Ensure every scheduled change is tracked and implemented so that nothing slips through the cracks.

  • Track deadlines and assist with reporting for payroll-related stakeholders.

  • Act as the primary responder for ad-hoc adjustments, reversals, and urgent payroll inquiries, providing calm and expert guidance under tight deadlines.

  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to resolve technical roadblocks, ensuring the platform is optimized to handle complex client pay rules.

  • Leverage client feedback and pay run data to refine playbooks and internal processes, making the payroll experience more efficient for everyone.

  • Take full responsibility for the health of your assigned accounts, acting as a solution-oriented partner who prioritizes employee satisfaction and legislative compliance.

About You

  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation is required.

  • 3+ years of experience in Payroll Administration, Managed Payroll Services within a SaaS or Payroll Service Provider (PSP) environment, or in-house across several types and sizes of organizations.

  • Deep understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, including CRA and Revenu Québec regulations, provincial labour standards, and year-end reporting (T4/T4A/RL-1). Expert-level knowledge in managing provincial employer liabilities and remittances, including WorkSafeBC, WSIB, and WCB premiums, as well as Employer Health Tax (EHT) requirements for Ontario and BC.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to act as a trusted advisor, navigating complex compliance conversations with client stakeholders.

  • Strong technical aptitude with experience configuring payroll software, managing complex pay rules, and troubleshooting tax logic or GL mapping issues.

  • Mastery of Excel is a must. You are comfortable using XLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and advanced formulas to reconcile large datasets and perform Year-to-Date (YTD) audits.

  • Bonus: Bilingual proficiency in French and English.

  • We offer a remote work environment. On occasion, we may meet as a team or one-on-one in person.
