Marketing & Communications
Toronto, ON, Canada
Posted on Saturday, July 13, 2024
Our mission is to increase the success rate of small businesses. Traditional banking has been a growth limiter rather than a growth enabler for business owners, and we’re changing that. Relay is the all-in-one, collaborative money management platform. We’re building for employer SMBs and their finance function, internal and external, and are focused on delivering a human-centric customer experience. Ultimately, we help SMBs be ‘on the money'.
Relay has entered an exciting new chapter of growth. We’re looking for a Content Marketing Manager to help us scale our SEO content to rank, engage audiences and drive registrations to Relay. The successful candidate will play an instrumental role on the Content Team building and executing the next generation of Relay’s SEO channel to help us scale. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the SEO strategy, directly impact the growth of SEO-driven account registrations and implement SEO best practices across a mix of content types.
The Content Marketing Manager will join a team of quality- and goal-obsessed marketers and creatives who want to help small businesses succeed. If you are looking to contribute your experience and skills in a fast-growing startup; we want to hear from you!

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and execute the SEO content strategy to create optimized content that successfully increases Relay’s rankings, engages audiences and drives registrations.
  • Create high-quality, engaging SEO-optimized content, including articles, landing pages, videos, tools, organic social media and more.
  • Build and manage the SEO editorial calendar to ensure a regular publishing cadence of content
  • Recommend optimizations of website content (products, calculators, blogs, help topics, etc.) and make data-driven recommendations for net new opportunities.
  • Review technical SEO issues and recommend fixes.
  • Continuously update evergreen pages and content using competitive SEO analysis to maintain SERP rankings.
  • Work closely with Growth, Product, and Sales to ensure content aligns with business goals and customer needs.
  • Talk to customers and do in-depth research to develop insights about what topics are most relevant to target business owners across different industry segments.
  • Be an expert resource on SEO best practices and editing support for other members of the Content and wider Marketing team.
  • Collaborate with internal and external designers to produce visual assets to support SEO content.
  • Manage and coordinate external resources, such as freelance writers or agencies to ensure timely delivery of high-quality content.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry developments, search engine algorithm updates, and SEO techniques to continuously enhance the effectiveness of content strategies.

Who You Are

  • You have 4+ years of proven experience in SEO writing, content marketing, copywriting, and SEO principles, keyword research, and on-page optimization techniques
  • You’re highly skilled using SEO tools and analytics platforms to develop strategies that drive measurable results
  • You’re a strong writer and editor with a natural ability to create compelling and optimized content across various digital channels
  • You’re data-driven. You can use data/analytics to measure the impact of your work and then use it to make informed decisions to drive greater business impact
  • You’re a strong project manager with a proven ability to organize and prioritize tasks that maximize your impact while working independently
  • You have experience interviewing subject matter experts and leveraging their input and perspective to develop authentic, informed content
  • You are genuinely excited about creating inspiring, helpful content for small businesses and their owners/operators, and care deeply about their success
  • Creative. You know how to leverage established tactics, but you can also think beyond the "playbook" to bring creative new ideas for growth
  • A storyteller at heart; you understand the power of narrative in shaping content strategy and leverage that to tell diverse stories

Bonus Points

  • You have experience working with Growth Marketing teams or on Growth Marketing initiatives
  • You have experience writing about financial topics, for SMB audiences or in B2B markets
