PurposeMed was founded in 2019 with the mission of improving access to complex care for underserved communities. We’ve grown quickly in our first few years, and now our exceptional team serves thousands of patients each month across our multiple verticals.
PurposeMed consists of three complex care business units: Freddie, Frida, and Foria, and partners with Affirming Care Pharmacy. Freddie is focused on improving sexual health through education, prevention, and treatment with a focus on the LGBTQ2S+ community—we’re now the largest HIV prevention service in Canada! Our second vertical, Frida, is focused on improving mental health and happiness through education, diagnosis, and treatment. Frida is changing the lives of patients with easier access to adult ADHD diagnosis, and fast and affordable treatment. Foria was recently launched in 2023 and is a virtual clinic providing trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse Canadians with gender-affirming healthcare. Affirming Care Pharmacy is a specialty pharmacy with locations in Calgary, Alberta, and Mississauga, Ontario. This partnership provides our patients with an end-to-end healthcare experience, from treatment, to prescription delivery, to continuous affirming care.
We’re one of LinkedIn’s Top 15 Startups in Canada, the #2 Company-to-Watch in Deloitte’s prestigious Technology Fast 50® program, and a member of the Team True North® roster as one of Canada’s fastest-growing and most promising startups. Our culture is highly mission-driven; our team is passionate about bringing healthcare to those who need it most. Best of all—we have fun doing it.

Who we hope to find:
PurposeMed is looking for a Chief of Staff to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) who can drive alignment between strategy and execution throughout the entire organization and enhance the daily operations of the ELT. Your responsibilities will range from facilitating our quarterly planning processes and supporting our leaders through delivery against the resulting priorities to leading key projects in pursuit of our ambitious goals. This role will work very closely alongside the executive leadership team.
In this role, you’ll make an impact by:
- Enabling the executive leadership team to operate efficiently and effectively:
- Partnering with them to lead the quarterly strategic planning process, including planning executive offsites and leading OKR creation/adherence
- Driving continuous improvement in executive operations (e.g., meetings, executive-level reporting, decision processes, communications)
- Acting as “triage” for the founders, re-routing, delegating or solving problems yourself, to minimize distractions and keep them focused on the right priorities
- Organizing and facilitating meeting agendas, preparation, discussions and coordinating action items at leadership team meetings
- Improving the connection between PurposeMed’s strategy and execution, to drive results:
- Surfacing obstacles between strategy and execution across PurposeMed, and identifying and supporting the implementation of solutions
- Providing program and change management support for major organizational priorities or initiatives
- Supporting our leaders and teams to implement best practices in project management
- Leveling up our internal communications:
- Building and supporting effective communication cascades through the organization to bridge the gap between the founders, the executive team and the rest of the team
- Leading the planning and content creation for company-wide events (e.g., Town Halls, Offsite) in partnership with the People team and founders
- Contributing to various high-impact, strategic initiatives:
- Proactively conducting analysis that helps the leadership team uncover problems and opportunities
- Leading cross-functional special projects (from strategy to implementation)
We need someone who has:
- 5+ years in a leadership role in a performance-oriented, fast-growing technology company with a proven track record of success
- Exceptional communication skills—we appreciate a clear and concise communicator with the ability to synthesize a lot of information quickly, highlight the key takeaways, and disseminate actionable insights
- An ability to prioritize effectively across many initiatives, business units, and departments—we need someone who is unbothered by context switching, who can confidently and continually shift focus onto the highest priorities as the needs of the business evolve
- Strong business and financial acumen—a deep understanding of the relationship between commercial/business operations, unit economics, and the resulting financials (P&L)
- A "driver" personality—biased toward action and collaboration, the ideal candidate will be constantly pushing toward clarity, alignment and ultimately, delivery of results
- Exceptional organizational skills—organizing information, people, and tasks brings joy, and creates clarity, focus, and progress
- An ability to influence without authority—the leaders of the company need to be steered without them reporting directly into this role, and building strong relationships will be key to success
- Perseverance—this role will require the successful candidate to roll up their sleeves and persist in the face of roadblocks
It would also be great if you have:
- Strong analytical skills—comfort with manipulating and interpreting business data to surface or diagnose challenges that hinder our progress independently
- A passion for PurposeMed's mission and solving healthcare challenges for underserved communities
- A balance of attention to detail and swift execution—we need to do things quickly, and we need to do them well
Compensation:
- $140,000 - $170,000 CAD a year
- Earn stock options through our Equity Incentive Plan—connect your efforts to PurposeMed’s growth as we work together to improve the lives of our patients across North America.
- The compensation listed above refers to a yearly base salary that may vary depending on a candidate's relevant qualifications, knowledge, competencies and work experience, and other factors including market conditions. Base pay is just one aspect of our total rewards at PurposeMed—see our other exciting benefits below!
