PurposeMed consists of three complex care business units: Freddie, Frida, and Foria, and partners with Affirming Care Pharmacy. Freddie is focused on improving sexual health through education, prevention, and treatment with a focus on the LGBTQ2S+ community—we’re now the largest HIV prevention service in Canada! Our second vertical, Frida, is focused on improving mental health and happiness through education, diagnosis, and treatment. Affirming Care Pharmacy is a specialty pharmacy with locations in Calgary, Alberta, and Mississauga, Ontario. Location: Calgary, AB (mix of in person and work from home)

This role will be based in Calgary, with a flexible schedule of in office and work from home, depending on your preference. PurposeMed's office is located on the unceded and traditional territories of the peoples of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Blackfoot First Nation tribes of Siksika, the Piikuni, the Kainai, the Stoney Nakoda First Nations tribes of Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley and the Tsuut’ina First Nation. The city of Calgary is also homeland to the historic Northwest Métis and to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.

Who we hope to find:

PurposeMed is seeking a driven and team-oriented person to support the daily accounting operations of our organization. Working with the rest of the finance team, the position will be hands-on, utilizing your ability to link critical thinking with day-to-day accounting knowledge. This is an exciting opportunity for an Accountant who wants to grow in their career and expand their knowledge base with exposure to both Canadian and American markets.

In this role, you’ll make an impact by:

Assisting with the preparation of financial reports and consolidated financial statements
Assisting with the preparation of the annual financial review and providing support during the review
Investigating financial reporting inconsistencies for root cause including determining and implementing proper corrective action
Assisting with budgeting and management accounting activities
Supporting the development of new financial reporting and analytics to drive transparency and business insights
Completing ad hoc analysis, projects and initiatives
Participating in process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations
Assisting with the implementation of accounting projects, including but not limited to software optimization and ERP system implementations
Performing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions and reconciliations

We need someone who has:

A post-secondary degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field
A recent Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
2+ years of accounting experience including time when trying to obtain CPA designation
Strong MS Excel skills and G-Suite (Gmail, Google Drive, etc.)
Exposure to working with a variety of accounting systems
Self-motivation and strong problem-solving skills
Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills with a strong commitment to ensuring deadlines are achieved
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively
Comfortability working in a business environment that is dynamic and constantly changing
