About the Role

This role is the perfect blend of technical mastery and inspiring leadership.

You’re a stand-out developer; an expert in modern software design, understanding scale, architecture, operational concerns, and the compromises inherent in different technical approaches.

You’re also a leader with a strong sense of urgency, and bias towards action. You have the communication and teamwork skills to clearly convey complex technical details, and positively influence and motivate your team to outstanding results.

What You'll Do

Own and evolve our public API and integration architecture, ensuring security, scalability, and ease of use for 3rd-party developers.
Lead the design and implementation of complex backend systems, including user authentication/authorization, data pipelines, and data structures that feed customizable dashboards.
Mentor and empower your team—supporting their growth while enabling them to ship high-quality code.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and other Engineering teams to translate business goals into sound technical solutions.
Stay hands-on with the code, setting best practices in architecture, testing, and deployment.
Champion operational excellence through observability, automated testing, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.

What You'll Bring

Backend Expertise (must-have):

Deep experience in designing, building, and scaling modern web APIs (REST and/or GraphQL).
Strong proficiency in backend technologies such as Node.js (Express.js) and/or PHP.
Experience implementing secure authentication and authorization systems (OAuth, JWT, SSO, etc).
Expertise in working with databases and large data sets using tools like Aurora, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, Redis.
Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure—particularly AWS—and using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to manage it.

Frontend Experience (nice to have):

Working knowledge of React, JavaScript, and TypeScript, with the ability to support developers across the stack when needed.

Leadership & Communication:

A proven track record of leading high-performing teams, mentoring engineers, and driving technical delivery.
Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
A bias for action—you're proactive, organized, and focused on outcomes.
