Prodigy's design practice weaves marketing, product, and game efforts into coherent experiences that inspire students to love learning, infused with brand personality, deep customer understanding, and AAA-level craft. Prodigy’s flagship Math game boasts an impressive user base of over ~7M Monthly Active Students who embark on fun and exciting online fantasy-style adventures, completing quests, levelling up, and collecting pets - all while practicing adaptive math across 1500 math skills.
As the Art Director for the Math Game, you will be responsible for overseeing and leading the artistic vision and direction. Your role will involve managing and collaborating with game artists and animators as well as engineering, product, and design leaders to ultimately provide the best experience for our players.

Your Impact

  • Establishes and communicates a compelling artistic vision and style for the game, ensuring alignment across the art and animation team.
  • Evolves the artistic direction through player feedback, team engagement, and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Creates objectives and plans for the art/animation team to support gameplay and storytelling.
  • Oversees the development of art/animation guidelines and processes to ensure quality and timely delivery.
  • Drives efficient production and integration of game art assets, facilitating collaboration between art, design, and engineering.
  • Foster creativity, innovation, and a feedback culture within the art and animation team.
  • Provides direction, coaching, and mentorship to team members to enhance their skills.
  • Promotes a creative environment that fosters idea exchange and enhances the game's visual identity.
  • Collaborates with other Art Directors to leverage efficiencies and strengthen the creative culture at Prodigy.
  • Holds overall accountability for game-specific outsourcing of art assets, ensuring high-quality deliverables align with the creative vision.
  • May be involved in art asset development to meet project deadlines as needed.

About You

  • 5-8 years of proven experience as an Art Director or in a similar role within the gaming industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in people management, leading and guiding creative teams.
  • A robust portfolio showcasing exceptional concept art, production art, and animation work.
  • Proven experience integrating AI tools into art team processes to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and optimize asset creation.
  • Profound knowledge of various art styles with the ability to adapt to different visual aesthetics.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Spine.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills for effective collaboration with the art team and other departments.
  • A genuine passion for gaming and a deep understanding of how art enhances the player's experience.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address creative and technical challenges effectively.
  • A preferred educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Game Art, Animation, or a related field.
