Engineering Manager, Platform
Procurify is the AI-enhanced procurement and AP automation platform for mid-market organizations. We make it easy for organizations to take control of spend and save money. We’re looking for a pragmatic and thoughtful engineering leader to help scale our platform and team.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are hiring an Engineering Manager to lead our Platform team. This team is responsible for building and scaling core services, APIs, and integration frameworks that power our entire product suite.
In this role, you will guide a team of skilled engineers in developing the robust infrastructure that enables our product teams to ship features quickly and reliably. You will spearhead our strategy for integrating with the critical third-party applications in our customers' financial ecosystems, including major Accounting and ERP systems. This is a high-impact role for a leader who is passionate about building scalable systems, enabling developer velocity, and solving complex integration challenges.
WHAT YOU’LL BE WORKING ON
Lead & Mentor: Manage a team of 6–8 software engineers, providing coaching for technical excellence, fostering individual career growth, and nurturing a culture of trust, ownership, and deep collaboration.
Define API Strategy: Own the technical direction and lifecycle of our internal and external APIs. You will establish best practices for API design, documentation, security, and versioning to ensure a consistent and high-quality developer experience for both internal teams and external partners.
Build Core Services: Guide the development of new, scalable backend services using modern frameworks like Python and FastAPI, supplementing our monolith in a microservices architecture.
Drive the Integration Roadmap: Lead the charge on building and maintaining our ecosystem of third-party integrations. You will work with your team to connect our platform to key Accounting/ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics Business Central), leveraging modern iPaaS tools and frameworks (e.g., Workato, Merge, Codat) where appropriate.
Enable Engineering Excellence: Act as a force multiplier for the entire engineering department. You will partner with product engineering teams to understand their needs and provide the tools, services, and infrastructure required to improve their velocity and effectiveness.
Forge Key Partnerships: Collaborate closely with Product Management, external partners, and internal engineering stakeholders to define clear roadmaps and deliver on complex, cross-functional initiatives.
Develop Future Leaders: Mentor senior engineers and team leads, actively supporting the growth of the next generation of engineering leaders at the company.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Proven Leadership: 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a direct people management role.
API & Services Expertise: Strong experience designing, building, and maintaining resilient, scalable APIs and backend services. Hands-on experience with modern Python frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Flask) is highly desirable.
Deep Integration Experience: A proven track record of building and maintaining complex third-party integrations. Direct experience with Accounting/ERP systems (NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, etc.) is a major advantage.
Platform Mindset: Familiarity with integration platforms or iPaaS tools (e.g., Workato, Merge, Codat) and a strong understanding of the challenges in building a developer platform.
Architectural Acumen: A strong grasp of distributed systems, microservice architecture, and API-first design principles. You know how to make pragmatic architectural decisions that balance short-term needs with long-term scalability.
Agile & DevOps Mindset: Strong knowledge of agile development practices, CI/CD, test automation, and building for observability and reliability.
Empathetic & Accountable: A self-driven, accountable leader who thrives in an autonomous, fast-paced environment and leads with empathy, compassion, and a people-first approach.
Exceptional Communicator: You excel at communicating complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences, fostering collaboration and alignment across teams and with external partners.
