We are looking for a contract position Senior Tax Accountant to join our growing Finance & Accounting Team. Your purpose in this role is to deliver analysis and insights to support decision making across each department of the company. You’ll build and own our budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting capabilities to support strategic decision-making at Prenuvo.
While there is a preference for candidates based in Vancouver to work in a hybrid setting, remote applicants are also welcome. This is a project based contractor role with a 20-30 hour per week expectation and potential for an opportunity to extend before 2025.
What You’ll Do
- Facilitate Prenuvo's worldwide corporate tax obligations, with a concentration on the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Europe, and EMEA. Aid in the preparation, review, and submission of corporate income tax and information returns, ensuring precise and prompt adherence to local tax laws
- Assist in the preparation of the USA based State income tax returns in accordance with each State’s regulations
- Assist in the preparation of the consolidated income tax provision and financial statement tax notes in accordance with US GAAP
- Oversee the reconciliation of general ledger accounts and journal entries related to taxes, ensuring accurate recording of tax transactions
- Serve as the primary point of contact with external tax consultants, government auditors, and financial auditors regarding taxation matters
- Provide expert tax guidance to the business on the tax implications of strategic and operational decisions, aiding in the evaluation of potential tax risks and opportunities to optimize tax efficiencies
- Assist in the development and maintenance of Prenuvo's global transfer pricing methodology
- Prepare documentation, memorandums, and support materials to justify Prenuvo's tax positions and amounts filed, ensuring compliance with tax regulatory bodies
- Conduct research in taxation and stay current with changes in tax laws, regulations, and rulings that may impact the company's tax structure and compliance requirements
What You’ll Bring
- Possess a Canadian or US CPA designation, individuals nearing completion of the CPA program may also be considered
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in taxation
- Extensive experience in US corporate tax matters, enabling you to effectively liaise directly with external accountants.
- Demonstrated proven track record of supporting tax compliance processes and collaborating with external advisors and auditors
- Stay current with tax laws, regulations, and industry developments in the USA, with a specific emphasis on corporate income tax and State taxes
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, prioritizing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines with ease
- Showcase adaptability and a commitment to staying up-to-date with evolving tax laws and regulations, applying this knowledge effectively within the organization
Nice to haves but not required
- Completion of or enrolment in Level 1 of CPA Canada’s In-depth Tax Program or enrolment in a Canadian or US Master of Taxation Program
- Public practice tax experience at a national or international firm
- Knowledge of tax accounting principles and financial statement tax note preparation under US GAAP

- The monthly compensation for this role ranges from $8,750 - $10,000 in local currency, depending upon experience
