Job Title: Senior Analyst, Data and BI

Location: Candidate must be located in Canada. Our office is located in Toronto, ON, Canada, but the role is remote/hybrid/flexible anywhere in Canada.

Reports to: SVP, Finance & Operations

Position Overview:

We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Analyst, Data & BI to maintain, build upon, and enhance our data analytics capabilities, supporting every department on their data needs as a reliable business partner. This is a critical role that will assist Management and key stakeholders across the business in understanding growth and performance as we scale our company and launch new initiatives. You will have the opportunity to build beautiful data visualizations and dashboards that assist in evaluating metrics and KPIs for each department and the company overall. The ideal candidate is highly technical (SQL is your best friend) and loves working with a lot of autonomy and ownership over their work while having the broader team’s support in a cross-functional role supporting Finance, GTM, Customer Experience, and R&D teams.

If you’re looking for a role working cross-functionally as a data analytics partner in a high-growth startup environment with ambitious growth plans that will allow you to have a significant impact on the business, then this is the role for you, and we’d love to hear from you!

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Analyze and interpret data from various sources and our data warehouse using SQL to uncover meaningful insights. Present findings in a clear manner to support cross-functional stakeholders in making critical business decisions.
  • Be to go-to person for all data pull requests across the company (you will be the owner of our #help-data slack channel). Work cross-functionally across the company, helping internal stakeholders understand insights from data unique to their department or projects.
  • Identify issues related to data integrity, and work closely with our Data team to troubleshoot data-related issues.
  • Create, organize and maintain dashboards on PowerBI, and prepare reports on business performance metrics for the Leadership Team.
  • Proactively identify and suggest operational improvements discovered while analyzing insights derived from our data.
  • Measure progress against goals/targets for key department-specific initiatives and help drive accountability and transparency of target achievement throughout the company.
  • Support weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc reporting needs.
  • Own all company-wide data enablement efforts

Who You Are:

  • 2-4+ years working in a data analyst, business intelligence/analyst, operational analyst, or related analyst role, working in a rigorous data-driven environment.
  • Highly proficient and an expert in SQL, PowerBI, Google Sheets, and Excel. Natural inclination to learn and develop skills with other technical tools.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Must be able to hypothesize ideas and interpret results using available data and tell a story. This role requires a strategic thinker who strives to go beyond a simple data-pull.
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented and organized. While juggling multiple tasks, you have a strong ability to prioritize and maintain accuracy in your deliverables.
  • Ownership and accountability are top-of-mind for you. You require little supervision to produce superlative results. You are proactive and a self-starter who does not always want to be told what to do.
  • Naturally a results-driven individual.
  • Hustle to ensure success; you thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - you'll be working closely with most individuals across the company.

Nice to Have:

  • Prior experience in a startup environment, moving fast and having extreme ownership.
  • Prior experience in a SaaS/PLG product environment.

We'd love it if you:

  • Enjoy highly technical work: Running SQL queries, sifting through the noise from a data output to pull out relevant insights, and playing around with data analytics tools/technology to drive efficiencies excite you.
  • Meticulous by nature: you have a natural inclination to sense-check everything and be close to the details. You like your work to always be cleanly-formatted and easily-consumable.
  • Highly curious: you don’t take current processes/systems/decisions to be set in stone and constantly question if there is a better way. You have a strong desire to constantly learn, understand, and improve, even in highly ambiguous situations. You are inquisitive in nature and proactively seek out new insights/knowledge by not being afraid to ask questions.
  • Has an Owner mentality: You have a very high sense of responsibility and accountability. You are comfortable being a self-starter operating with a high degree of autonomy. You proactively engage in your own work or in cross-functional projects that you are leading.
  • Likes to be a Driver: Your preference is to step up and set the pace on any challenge/task/initiative that requires cross-functional alignment and execution.

Perks & Benefits:

  • Unlimited Vacation: We believe you can be highly productive and still have plenty of time for life outside of work.
  • Generous health benefits plan: Coverage starts from Day 1 and includes vision & dental.
  • Retirement savings matched up to 2% (401K / RRSP)
  • Sprout Family: Receive personalized support for the family-building process, accessing top-quality care. Schedule a consultation with Sprout's Team for guidance, education, coaching, and assistance in finding a top provider, addressing medical, legal, or regulatory concerns throughout your journey. *Currently for Canadian Employees Only*
  • Inkblot: Access to one of Canada's leading digital mental health companies, focusing on offering secure online video counseling through our corporate mental health programs and individual counseling services. *Currently for Canadian Employees Only*
  • Choose your device: Are you Team Windows or Apple? You shouldn’t have to compromise, especially if you work more efficiently on a specific operating system. When you join us, you get to pick!
  • Home Office Allowance: $500/year to ensure your home office is set up for optimal comfort and productivity.
  • Health & Wellness Allowance: $750/year to support your health & wellness-related goals and hobbies.
  • Learning & Development Allowance: $1000/year to explore a new skill, attend a conference, read some new books, etc.
  • Fully Remote: Work from the comfort of your own home with the choice to access our downtown Toronto office for a change of scenery.
  • Events & Free Lunches: We prioritize weekly team bonding and monthly company-wide social events with a lunch stipend. We pride ourselves on maintaining a culture where everyone feels engaged, inspired, and excited to come to work every day.
