Position title: Web Developer & Designer
Location: Candidate must be located in Canada or the USA. Our office is located in Toronto, ON, Canada, but the role is remote/hybrid/flexible.
Reports to: VP of Growth Marketing
About the Position:
Practice Better is actively seeking an experienced and creative Web Developer & Designer to play a pivotal role in shaping the tone, aesthetics, and personality of our marketing endeavors. In this position, you will take charge of designing various marketing materials, including our website, ads, videos, and blog posts. Your responsibilities will extend to conducting user and competitive research, analyzing user journeys, and collaborating on strategies to effectively communicate the value of our product. Working closely with our marketing team, you will ensure seamless implementation of the designed elements for successful marketing outcomes.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Website Development — Implement responsive and dynamic front-end solutions using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Collaborate with back-end developers for seamless integration. Prioritize mobile-first design for optimal user experience on mobile devices.
  • Website Design — Design visually appealing and functional layouts. Ensure cross-browser compatibility and consistent user experience. Conduct A/B testing and implement user feedback for improvement.
  • Graphic Design — Develop visual elements such as ads, infographics, and landing pages to support our marketing efforts.
  • Branding – Ensure consistency in branding across all design elements to strengthen brand identity. Contribute to or develop brand guidelines to maintain a cohesive visual identity.
  • User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) — Conduct user research. Create interactive prototypes for visualization and testing before implementation.
  • Collaboration — Work closely with marketers, content creators, and developers. Communicate with clients/stakeholders to understand requirements and incorporate feedback. Provide training and support for website management.
  • Research & Trends: Keep up-to-date on design trends, tools, and technologies to continually improve design skills and approaches. Utilize A/B testing and analytics for data-driven design decisions.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Conduct testing to ensure designs meet usability and accessibility standards. Review designs for accuracy and quality before final implementation.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of coding experience in advanced languages and frameworks.
  • 3+ years as a Website Designer and Developer with a strong portfolio.
  • Bachelor's degree in Web Development, Design, Computer Science, or relevant working experience.
  • Proficiency in web development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and frameworks. Familiarity with databases, version control systems, responsive design, web optimization, and security practices.
  • Proficiency with design tools (Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD).
  • In-depth knowledge of WordPress architecture, themes, plugins, and customization.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., webflow, WordPress, Drupal, HubSpot).
  • Knowledge of SEO principles for web content optimization.
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX design principles and best practices.
  • Previous experience in a tech startup environment and working in an Agile methodology.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
