Software Engineer - AI Transformation
Poka
At Poka, we’re transforming how frontline teams operate, learn, and solve problems.
Our connected worker platform is purpose-built for manufacturing, empowering frontline workers to share knowledge, collaborate in real-time, and drive continuous improvement. Think of it like YouTube and Facebook but built for the factory floor!
We’re proud to support global leaders like Nestlé, Bosch, Mars, and Danone in their digital transformation journeys and as part of the IFS family, our reach and impact continue to grow globally.
Poka is undergoing a company-wide transformation to integrate artificial intelligence into the way we operate — not just in our product, but in how we work, make decisions, and deliver value. As a Software Engineer on the AI Transformation team, you’ll play a critical role in developing the internal tools, systems, and engines that will reshape how our teams function and how our business evolves.
You’ll work directly with the Chief AI Officer and AI Staff Engineer to explore, prototype, and deploy innovative solutions across departments — from operations to customer success. Your work won’t be limited to any one stack or domain: it will span algorithms, automation, data infrastructure, and user workflows, all with a focus on impact, adoption, and continuous learning.
We’re looking for a sharp and curious engineer who understands how systems work, how businesses operate, and how AI can create leverage at scale.
What you’ll do:
- Build internal tools and platforms that enable teams across Poka to leverage AI safely and productively.
- Develop infrastructure and automations that streamline work across domains like support, sales, HR, and finance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to uncover pain points and identify opportunities for AI-driven solutions.
- Prototype and validate high-leverage ideas, iterating quickly to learn what works and scale what matters.
- Design systems that balance experimentation with maintainability, cost, and governance.
- Contribute to internal AI agents, copilots, and service integrations that improve workflows and reduce repetitive tasks.
- Help shape the foundations of AI governance and best practices — from traceability and monitoring to responsible usage.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with both technical and non-technical teams to align on goals and constraints.
- Stay current with new developments in AI, developer tooling, and systems design — and apply them pragmatically.
What you bring:
- A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of software development experience, ideally across different layers of the stack and types of systems.
- Strong grasp of algorithms, data structures, and systems design.
Experience integrating AI or machine learning capabilities into software systems. - A deep interest in how businesses operate and how technology can unlock performance and efficiency.
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages (we care more about skill than syntax).
- Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS) and modern tooling.
- Excellent communication skills in both French and English.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience in a startup, internal tools team, or transformation-focused engineering role.
- Familiarity with Agentic Principles, LLMs, vector databases, or similar AI frameworks.
- Knowledge of AI/ML lifecycle practices including monitoring, evaluation, and tuning.
- Experience building developer platforms or workflow orchestration systems.
- Interest in organizational design, automation, and responsible AI governance.
What we offer:
- Dynamic and collaborative work environment.
- Generous vacation policy upon arrival.
- Hybrid work policy - Work from the office one day a week if you live within a 40km radius to our Quebec City office or a 15 km radius to our Montreal office.
- 100% remote work if you do not live within the radiuses mentioned above.
- Truly flexible schedule and the possibility of taking every Friday afternoon off.
- Group insurance from day one (dental, medication, invalidity, travel, etc.).
- Telemedicine service.
- Matching GRSP with Wealthsimple after your first year.
- MacBook Pro and $500 allowance for your home office.
- Tasty snacks (Fresh fruits, snacks, coffee, tea, etc.)
- Generous referral bonus.
- Whatever you need to keep learning and evolve professionally.
