As a Sr. Release Manager at PointClickCare you will own and continuously improve the release management processes and procedures for the successful delivery of software products. You will ensure that key internal stakeholders in customer facing roles and PointClickCare customers are aware of what's in each release and how it will impact them. The Release Manager's goal is to optimize the release process, enhance efficiency, and ensure a smooth and reliable delivery of software releases
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Process Ownership
- Develop, maintain, and own a release management strategy and roadmap, in alignment with the company's product development goals and objectives.
- Implement comprehensive release management processes and procedures to ensure the successful delivery of software products. - Define and enforce release management processes and best practices, ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Manage Releases
- Define and enforce release management processes and best practices, ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate release activities, including release planning, and post-release support, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and meet stakeholder expectations.
- Coordinate release readiness reviews, ensuring that all release requirements, including documentation, testing, and approval processes, are completed successfully.
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure the availability and stability of production environments during and after releases.
- Ensure all necessary documentation is accurate, complete, and delivered to customers in a timely manner.
- Coordinate release activities across multiple projects, teams, and stakeholders, ensuring alignment and efficient execution.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, product managers, and development teams to define release scope, schedules, and deliverables.
Stakeholder Management
- Establish a steering team to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Content Design, Product Management, Engineering Operations, Education Services, Product Marketing, Customer Support, and Escalation Management.
- Communicate release plans, progress, and updates to stakeholders, including senior management, development teams, and customers.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks and issues related to software releases.
- Develop contingency plans to minimize disruptions and ensure business continuity.
Continuous Improvement
- Design and maintain performance metrics for the Release Management Process.
- Continuously improve release management processes and tools, incorporating industry best practices and emerging technologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and techniques related to release management, and share knowledge and insights with the team.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 8-10 years experience in Release Management with a deep understanding of software development and release processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Software Engineering.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate, communicate and negotiate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels (internal and external).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues proactively.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, including Agile and DevOps methodologies.
- Experience with agile development methodologies.
- Technical knowledge of development tools and software.
Nice to haves:
- SaaS Experience - Prior experience working with Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms.
- Project Management Tools - Proficiency in tools like JIRA and Aha! (or equivalent project management software).
- Data Analytics - Strong skills in data analysis using tools such as Power BI - ability to interpret and act on data insights effectively.
