Tax Manager, Indirect

This is a remote position, but hybrid for candidates within 60km of our offices in either Toronto or Montreal
Tax Manager, Indirect
You will take the lead on building a global indirect tax engine for a company that operates where travel meets finance, turning tax complexity into a scalable competitive advantage.
What You'll Be Doing
You will be the primary architect of our end-to-end indirect tax processes, moving beyond simple filings to influence how we structure commercial contracts with global partners. You own the accuracy of our Canadian, US, and international compliance, which means you are the one critically evaluating external advice and making the final call on complex global transactions. AI handles the first pass on recurring data analysis and month-end tax summaries, so your focus stays on the judgment calls and multi-jurisdictional research that actually need you. You will act as the face of Plusgrade during audits and desk reviews, ensuring our documentation is bulletproof and our business remains uninterrupted as we scale.
What You Bring
You are a CPA who has mastered the technical depths of Canadian and international tax, likely through years in a Big 4 firm or a complex global tech environment.
You don't just follow tax regulations, you navigate them in jurisdictions where business models aren't yet defined, translating complex laws into clear business strategies.
You are a proactive owner who spots global tax exposures before they hit the books, preferring to build a preventive system rather than fix a mistake.
You communicate with enough precision and persuasion to influence executive stakeholders and negotiate effectively with tax authorities.
When it comes to AI, you don't just use it, you've replaced recurring manual work with workflows you built and refined, and you can tell the difference between output you can trust and output that needs your judgment before it goes anywhere.
