ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Director of Procurement will build and lead Plusgrade’s end‑to‑end procurement function, owning policy, process, and performance across intake, sourcing, negotiation, contracting, third‑party risk, and post‑award vendor management. This leader will operate cross‑functionally with Legal, CSIS (security/privacy and IT), FP&A, Accounting, and department leaders to ensure procurement outcomes that are risk‑aware, policy‑aligned, and value‑generating.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
-Own and continuously improve Plusgrade’s Procurement Policy, operating model, and intake‑to‑contract workflows, including upstream planning, competitive sourcing, commercial negotiation, approvals, and handoff to PO/invoicing.
-Stand up and mature vendor management practices (health reviews, QBRs, SLAs/OLAs, obligations tracking, renewals playbooks, and issue escalation paths) so every vendor has a clear owner, success metrics, and risk/compliance posture defined.
-Partner with FP&A and Accounting to align budget approvals and PO processes; ensure procurement orchestration integrates smoothly with finance operations and reporting.
-Partner with Legal to standardize and accelerate contracting (template strategy, playbooks, fallback positions), while preserving risk posture and regulatory compliance requirements.
-Partner with CSIS to institutionalize security/privacy reviews and technical interoperability/integration checks for technology vendors and data processing arrangements.
-Own the procurement technology roadmap (intake, sourcing, CLM, vendor risk, P2P) and drive automation, policy enforcement, and data quality across systems of record (e.g., ERP/CLM), improving cycle times and experience for requesters and approvers.
-Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and driving continuous improvement.
-Define and report procurement ROI via a transparent scorecard (e.g., cost savings, cost avoidance, total contract value under management, cycle times, compliance rates), with rigorous and consistent definitions and auditable tracking.
-Lead the third‑party risk management program in partnership with CSIS and Legal, including vendor tiering criteria, security/privacy due diligence, criticality assessments, and ongoing monitoring and renewals cadence.
-Support audit and certifications by ensuring controls for vendor management are well‑designed and evidenced for frameworks such as SOC 2 and SOX ITGC.
-Coach, grow, and lead a small high‑performing team, establish clear service levels with internal “customers,” and embed Plusgrade values in how the function operates day‑to‑day.
YOU ARE SOMEONE WITH:
-Deep procurement leadership experience in high‑growth technology or product‑led organizations, with a proven record establishing or scaling a modern procurement/TPRM function.
-Expertise across categories such as SaaS/software, cloud/infrastructure, professional services, and marketing.
-Fluency in contract and risk topics (e.g., data privacy, security addenda, DPAs, IP, limitation of liability, SLAs, termination rights, renewals/auto‑renewals) and comfort partnering with Legal and Security on redlines and risk tradeoffs.
-Operational mastery of procurement and finance workflows, including budgeting, intake, approvals, POs, and invoicing, and practical experience with ERP/CLM platforms (e.g., NetSuite, contract repositories).
-Measurement mindset with the ability to define, track, and communicate procurement ROI (cost savings, cost avoidance), compliance, and cycle‑time metrics to executive stakeholders.
-Systems thinking and tooling experience across intake‑to‑procure, sourcing, CLM, vendor risk, and P2P; adept at process design, enablement, and automation.
-People leadership with a track record building teams, elevating talent, and creating collaborative, service‑oriented operating rhythms.
-Clear, executive‑ready communication and stakeholder management skills; able to influence across Finance, Legal, CSIS and business customers.
