Software Engineer I

Our teams own a full data delivery pipeline that involves data collection and analysis, time series score generation and downstream delivery. The ESG Data Solutions Engineering team leverages highly scalable and distributed systems to serve both internal and external clients. The challenge, scope, and versatility of this data provide an exciting and engaging work environment. From the automated and intelligent collection tools to the APIs, in house tools and federation layers, your work will be pivotal in driving FactSet's growth through innovation.

FactSet engineers demonstrate an ability to critique code and production environments for continuous improvement, as well as to receive and apply feedback effectively. This collaborative environment fosters the development of deep expertise in our products.

Our focus is on creating robust software that enhances data collection and generation with consistent quality, stability, and adherence to best practices. This position will enable you to gain a mastery of the products you're contributing to and participate in forward-looking design discussions aiming to improve systems based on observations and hands-on experience with the code and production environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of data structures and algorithms, object-oriented programming, and software engineering principles.
  • Ensure that deployed products are properly maintained throughout their lifecycle and participate in on-call responsibilities.
  • Participate in design and code reviews.
  • Be a quick learner, open to acquiring new skills and knowledge.
  • Make strong technical contributions to projects within the team with a focus on new enhancements, stability, and performance.
  • Be self-driven, collaborating closely with the team, and take responsibility for independent project execution.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Engineering degree required.
  • Strong technical, analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Python or a similar Programing Language
  • Hands-on experience with Databases (SQL/noSQL)
  • Interest in building applications to process and generate structured data

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Node.js, JavaScript / TypeScript, C#
  • Mongo DB, PostgreSQL, Databricks, Parquet
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) concepts and tools like GitHub and Jenkins.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and their deployment methodologies.
  • Experience in automating application deployments with tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
