We are hiring a hands-on Director of Engineering to lead multiple Engineering teams in developing and delivering impactful customer-facing applications for photographers and creative professionals. As a Director of Engineering, you’ll join our Engineering leadership team as a key decision-maker, helping to define and execute our technical vision, strategy, and objectives as Pixieset continues to grow. Collaborating closely with Product and Design leaders, you’ll ensure alignment and seamless delivery of the product roadmap, empowering our teams to succeed. In this role, you’ll foster a culture of excellence by championing continuous improvement in engineering practices, product delivery, and innovation. With over 1 million users worldwide, your leadership will directly contribute to making Pixieset a best-in-class product for our community of creators.

Your Impact

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams in a fast-paced development environment, delivering best-in-class web and mobile customer-facing applications
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions
  • Oversee application engineering activities, from development and release to the maintenance of web and mobile applications, ensuring reliability and scalability
  • Define and drive the technical vision, strategy, and goals across multiple Engineering teams to align with business objectives and product roadmaps
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to address challenges, gather business and technical requirements, and design innovative, data-driven solutions
  • Advocate for Engineering, our product, and customers by ensuring the alignment of technology initiatives with the company’s overall business strategy and contributing to long-term success
  • Establish and maintain high standards for engineering practices across quality, reliability, scalability, and customer-focused solutions
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, motivate and retain individuals, coach managers, develop skills of team members, facilitating professional development and performance reviews, and lead recruitment efforts

Role Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in application development, specializing in designing and building high-volume, highly available, and scalable backend services and web applications
  • 5+ years of proven success as a people manager with direct reports, demonstrating the ability to inspire, mentor, and grow high-performing teams
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, modern DevOps principles, security best practices, and cloud-based application development
  • Skilled at engaging in meaningful technical discussions with staff-level engineers, providing guidance and fostering innovation
  • Possesses technical expertise and a people-centric approach, with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Track record of building and scaling high-performing teams, consistently acting as a role model for peers and direct reports by leading through action
  • Thrives in a dynamic, continuous delivery environment, bringing a self-motivated, detail-oriented mindset and a passion for delivering world-class software

The typical salary range for this position is CAD $180,500 - $241,500 annually. Salary offered will be based on skills, experience and market data.
