Job Description

Role Purpose

As the OEM Technical Consultant, you will drive product and technology adoption with partner OEMs to support Rockwell Automation OEM sales program. You help establish Rockwell Automation's reputation of excellence and knowledge of automation technology. You leverage your domain expertise in the industry and applications being served, along with your in-depth understanding of Rockwell Automation products, technology, and system architecture, to provide expert consulting at the domain level.

Reporting Line

You will report to Global OEM Technology Consultant Manager.

Position Summary

  • Deliver technical assistance directly to OEM customers, supporting targeted sales and adoption. You handle application integration, proof of concept demonstrations, and product selection to promote Rockwell Automation hardware and software. You support sales presentations, assist with account activities, and identify new product or service opportunities within customer organizations.

  • Execute proof of concepts, conduct control system design reviews, provide application programming consulting, deliver technical demonstrations and focused training, develop application notes and library code, and support startup engineering and Factory Acceptance Tests.

  • Help develop application library code and templates to share with the Rockwell Automation global technical community.

  • You use existing library code for OEM developments to leverage Rockwell Automation’s intellectual property.

  • Assist in transitioning OEM activities to local Rockwell, distributor, or SI technical consultants for ongoing support.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations, applying standards such as business conduct, intellectual property, information protection, and health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Job-related Competencies

  • Technical Expertise : High-level of expertise in automation products relevant to industrial application.

  • Industry Knowledge : Intermediate understanding of industrial machine application, OEM drivers, and production processes, along with basic skills in market research, project management, customer relationship management, and strategic sales.

The Essentials - You Will Have :

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, or a related field.

  • 5 years of experience in electrical controls design, field service, or commercial engineering within industrial automation.

  • Strong systems knowledge and hands-on experience with PAC/PLC, operator interfaces, communications, I/O, presence sensing, safety, and visualization software.

  • You understand drives and motion, and are experienced at troubleshooting control systems and industrial automation applications.

  • Industry experience in automated machinery such as packaging, robotics, material handling, manufacturing, and assembly.

  • Advanced knowledge of Rockwell Automation core products and systems: Integrated Architecture, Kinetix motion control, PowerFlex drives, ControlLogix and CompactLogix controllers, FactoryTalkView visualization, I/O platforms, communication networks (Ethernet/IP, ControlNet and DeviceNet), Safety products / Safety Controllers, and related Software products.

  • Background in discrete machine controls engineering in an OEM environment, with experience using servo motion and standard VFDs.
