Job Description

Job Outline

The Global OEM Technical Consultant (GOTC) position is responsible for technology adoption & support for OEMs ( i.e. Machine/ Equipment builders). Typical activities include presales, proof of concept programming, control system design review, technical presentation, application notes development and application best practices mentoring.

Advanced knowledge of the application of automation core products and systems in areas such as Motion Control, Drives, PLCs, Networks, Operator Interface, PLC, I/O, Presence Sensing, and Software as they relate to a Focus Application Area is essential.

  • A GOTC supports OEM customers and sales teams with development of engineering standards, methods and guidelines related to the application of Rockwell Automation’s technologies with the OEM.
  • Spearheads the exchange of best practices within the OEM as well as feedback product application experience to inside Rockwell Automation while safeguarding an OEM’s proprietary process.
  • Manages customer product expectations and obtains product and systems requirements through direct customer interaction.
  • Represents the technical aspects of our products and system in sales presentations at customer sites.
  • Encourages the sale of appropriate products and services to the OEM, advising sales of identified opportunities.

The GOTC is a position that has extensive domain knowledge of the industry and applications being served along with in-depth knowledge of the Rockwell Automation products, technology and system architecture in order to provide domain level expertise consulting.

Job Specification

Knowledge /Education (Minimum Qualification)

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical & Electronics/ Industrial Automation/ Instrumentation & Controls/ Mechatronics)

Specific Skills

  • Strong applied systems knowledge with Machine builders in Process applications / Manufacturing & Assembly / Packaging / CPWT (Converting Printing Web & Textiles) / Material Handling
  • General knowledge of control systems and computer technology.
  • Advanced knowledge of all Automation core products PLC, Motion Control, Operator Interface, Communications, I/O, presence sensing and software.
  • Application experience with advanced motion applications/ process control/ IIOT/ Robotics motion control.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Extensive experience interacting with customers and the successful resolution of their unique requirements.
  • Highly motivated and independent workers that can integrate and participate well in a team environment.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and successfully prioritize those as required.
  • Strong personal ethics and honesty.
  • Effective creative thinking under stressful conditions.
  • Well-developed troubleshooting abilities.
  • General familiarity with test equipment and software.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing, supporting and implementing Industrial IoT digital transformation strategies and software solutions.
  • Ensures transferring Rockwell Solution knowledge to Customer team / Internal GOTC team.

Desirable Experience

  • 5 years of related experience
  • Having assembly and/or process machinery background would be beneficial.

Travel

Requirements

70% of time on customer sites for Proof-of-concept/ execution. 60% Limited to Singapore & 40% SEA

Relocation

Open for relocation in future depending on business requirements.
