Job Description
The Field Services Engineering Team Lead is a supervisory role that plans, organizes and directs a field services engineering team to meet or exceed business objectives. This position is focused on managing engineering resources for installation support, start-up, maintenance and operation of drive systems, automation control systems, manufacturing systems, industrial networks and the individual products which comprise these systems. Responsible for assisting the Field Services Engineering Manager to meet customer and business objectives including budget, schedule, resource loading, and recovery targets. The Engineering Team Lead requires team resource planning skills such as assigning direct reports to projects, assessing staffing levels and utilization, among other duties. This position manages all employees within their team and is responsible for the performance management, recruiting, and onboarding of those employees. You will report to the Manager, Engineering Services and will be hybrid working out of Mequon or Milwaukee WI or any one of Rockwell's business locations.
Your Responsibilities:
- Leads the direction of engineering field support efforts, developing people resources, and managing financial plans and objectives for the resources assigned to them
- Work with the Field Services Engineering Manager and Project Management to identify and implement training/development assignments for employees
- Work with the Field Services Engineering Manager and Project Management to track employee project assignments and communicate 6-week utilization plans
- Lead performance review process for assigned employees including defining development plans
- Communicate regularly (weekly basis) with assigned employees on project assignment, assure they have the appropriate knowledge/tools, provide performance feedback, coaching and career goals
- Work with the Field Services Engineering Manager to plan effective use of non-billable time (training, internal projects) for assigned employees Responsible for maintaining utilization/recovery budgets for resources and to coordinate resource sharing with other business units
- Manages an organization of up to 10 engineering professionals Identifies industry/application-wide development needs and develops goals and direction including training plan, human resource review, succession plan, etc. for their team.
- Sets forth directives for increasing the productivity of engineering field support to maintain competitive engineering costs and lead-times
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
- The ability to travel 10% of the time.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
- Experience: 2+ years in leading projects, talent leadership, and project engineering environment
- Strong projects background in automation and low voltage drive systems required
- Prior management or leadership experience is desirable
- Self-starter and ability to complete tasks independently and with teams and achieving results on time
- Team player with the ability to integrate with other team project members
