Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Improve the experience of Rockwell’s Developers through first class engineering and support of lower environments.
  • Co-locate with Development teams and to drive improvements to lower environments.
  • Enable stream/product aligned teams to deliver work with substantial autonomy through Infrastructure As Code.
  • Partner across Rockwell’s Development teams in the creation of reusable services, wherever pragmatic.
  • Resolve platform or network issues in build chains, driving highly reliable and repeatable build automation.
  • Partner across Rockwell’s Development teams in the creation of repeatable CI/CD pipelines and/or pipeline classes, using common pipeline templates wherever possible.
  • Collaborate with Development, Security, and Infrastructure teams in the creation and operational support of lower environments tailored to improve the experience of Developers while maintaining the security of Rockwell’s Intellectual Property.
  • Champion complete build and production support automation and help drive a culture of automation at Platform layers.
  • Build observability into build chains, CI/CD pipelines, and automations of all environments.
  • Collaborate with Build/DevOps/SRE Engineers in the creation and operational support of CI/CD pipelines and pipeline templates.
  • Partner across Rockwell Automation in the governance of common Platform components.
  • Ensure consistency between Production and Lower environments.
  • Creation or standardize test cases in CI/CD pipelines for the proper use of Platform Components and Operational Readiness.
  • Drive initiatives to automate development processes, reduce friction, and eliminate bottlenecks at Platform and Network layers.
  • Establish metrics, KPIs, and monitor Platform products to measure Developer satisfaction.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends in developer tools, platforms, and methodologies.
  • Advocate for and implement developer-friendly policies and practices.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, MIS, Computer Science, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading systems or platform development teams.
  • Minimum of 3 year’s experience in Network Operations or Engineering roles.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in DevSecOps/Continuous Delivery support.
  • Experience with Continuous Delivery practices, Agile/SAFe, across a large organization.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence a diverse group of peers with a variety of software development requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid skills in the creation of Technical Roadmaps – organizing work for the development team following Scrum/Agile principles.
  • Extraordinary internal customer focus – the successful candidate should come prepared with stories demonstrating improvement in developer experience.
  • Deep understanding of successful network and platform components, their architecture, durability, provisioning, monitoring, and lifecycle.
  • A classic “systems thinker” – able to see all the interacting parts and chart a path to an end solution.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and a partnering mindset. 0 tolerance for “not invented here” thinking.
  • Ability to communicate to both Senior Executives and Front-Line Technical co-workers.
  • Track record of innovation in platform automation and IDPs – linking network, system, storage, DBs, meshes, and other sub-components of applications.
