Job Description
This position manages the environmental, industrial, health and safety regulations management team for Rockwell Automation's Cambridge, Ontario manufacturing plant. Oversees development, planning, and implementation of environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Handles all contact with appropriate agencies. Oversees the preparation of contracts for waste disposal firms and monitors waste handling. Develops and oversees company training programs for employees in areas such as compliance training, lab/plant inspection, hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, and life safety. Ensures appropriate corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards exist. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. You will have two direct reports in this position. You will report to the Plant Manager. You will work onsite from the Cambridge, ON facility.
Your Responsibilities:
- Support, implement and maintain the Rockwell Automation environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as Rockwell Automation policies and procedures (as defined by 900 manual).
- Participate in and provide leadership with government agencies' field visits for the purpose of understanding the applicable EHS regulations and to ensure compliance.
- Implement company EHS procedures at the assigned location and hold management and employees accountable for following the rules.
- Provide or seek technical support, input and coordination on environmental, health and safety issues that affect projects and processes at the regional/country level.
- Facilitate employee EHS training for the hazards and task performed at the location. Define and maintain an EHS training matrix. Provide and track necessary training.
- Document, maintain and implement emergency response plan. Conduct annual evacuation drills.
- Report monthly injury/illness metrics to HQ-EHS; support the investigation of injury and illnesses; analyze work related injury and illness data to identify and implement actions to prevent a reoccurrence of the injury/illness.
- Ensure that environmental, health and safety assessments, personal protective equipment, procedures, training and other control measures as required by regulation and/or Rockwell Automation policy and procedures are provided to employees (including contract employees). Safe electrical installations and Safe electrical work practices are a priority.
- Provide environmental data (energy, waste, water) as feasible to company in timely manner and drive continual improvement.
- Support Rockwell Production System EHS Elements as measured by the EHS Performance Assessments. Participate with assessments and self-assessments as appropriate.
- Responsible for the ongoing environmental management system and ISO 14001 certification.
- Responsible for the ongoing safety management system and OHSAS 18001 certification.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience
- Legal authorization to work in CAN. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
- 10+ years of experience in related field
- 5+ years of leadership experience
- Previous related experience in manufacturing/operations environment
- Experience with MS Office suite
