🌍 About Us

NPX partners with nuclear utilities and new reactor projects to unlock performance through innovation. We combine decades of nuclear operation expertise with AI, digital tools, and lean processes, to help plants run safer, smarter, and more cost-effectively. Our Human Factors Engineering team integrates human performance into design, safety, and operational decisions through applied HFE. Partnering closely with utilities, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams, we help ensure changes are safe, usable, and operationally sound, supporting reliable nuclear operations as systems modernize and complexity increases.

🧠 The Role

NPX is looking for a Human Factors Specialist to support nuclear design, safety, and operational projects across Canada, including new build initiatives. In this role, you’ll provide applied Human Factors Engineering support to engineering modifications, modernization efforts, and new build programs, working closely with multidisciplinary teams. As nuclear systems evolve and capacity expands, your work will help ensure changes are implemented safely, effectively, and in alignment with human performance expectations.

We’re Looking For Someone Who Has

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Nuclear, Industrial, Systems, or a related discipline). An advanced degree with a focus on Human Factors is considered an asset.
  • Approximately 5-10 years of experience applying Human Factors Engineering within the nuclear industry.
  • Familiarity with Canadian nuclear environments, including utilities, vendors, and CANDU operations.

Location: Hybrid (Travel to client site as required by project needs).

Salary Range: $110-140k (Exact compensation may vary).

🎯 What You’ll Drive

  • Deliver Human Factors analyses (OPEX reviews, Function Analysis, Task Analysis, Timeline Analysis, Human-System Interface Design and Verification & Validation) to support engineering modifications and design projects.
  • Integrate HFE into design decisions, ensuring human performance considerations are embedded, not retrofitted.
  • Partner with multidisciplinary engineering teams, vendors, and client HFE groups to review designs against HFE standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Support operational and safety initiatives, including Minimum Shift Complement assessments and design changes impacting operations.
  • Translate complex technical and human-system challenges into clear, actionable recommendations that support safer, more reliable nuclear operations.
  • Representative projects may include: Human Factors support for nuclear design modifications, Minimum Shift Complement and task/timeline analyses, control room or HMI modernization initiatives, and support to operational or safety-related programs (e.g., SAMGs).

✨ What You Bring

  • Results & Impact: You deliver work that gets used and creates value.
  • Leadership & Influence: You elevate conversations and outcomes without needing a title to do it.
  • Adaptability & Growth: You thrive in complex, evolving project environments.
  • Initiative & Innovation: You proactively identify and solve problems.
  • Cultural Amplification: You strengthen our culture and role model our values.

🌿 What You’ll Find Here

To do great work, you need to be well in mind, body, and soul. At NPX, we design our environment around the whole person, not just the job they do.

  • 🧠 Mind: Tools and support for mental wellness, professional growth, and financial security.
  • 🧘‍♀️ Body: Health coverage, a spending account, and the freedom to rest and recharge.
  • 🌀 Soul: Meaningful work, alignment with your values, and time to refresh with time off.
  • 💰👀 Financial wellbeing? Covered. That means competitive pay and recognition for the impact you make.
