Role Description

MPOWER is looking for a Technical Services Manager to help us advance our mission to provide clean, reliable energy for Canadians. The core responsibility of this role is to be the technical subject matter expert for all aspects of the Powerwall system. Activities can range from reviewing and approving singleline drawings to monitoring fleet performance and troubleshooting abnormal behaviour. Candidates must have a technical background and be highly organized, hard-working team players who are committed to continuous learning.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consistently update and enhance Powerwall product knowledge, including features, specs, installation, commissioning, operation, aggregation, maintenance, and decommissioning.
  • Stay up to date on relevant electrical code and building code requirements across Canada.
  • Review Single Line Drawings and associated information submitted by installers and provide feedback when necessary to ensure system design meets manufacturer and code requirements.
  • Generate Bills of Material for sales order creation.
  • Update Single Line Drawing templates and maintain other internal documentation as needed.
  • Support the project management team and sales team with responding to technical queries from homeowners, installers, and utility clients.
  • Regularly monitor the status of existing Powerwall fleets and log all abnormal behaviour.
  • Report on fleet performance and support/maintenance activities as required.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve abnormal system performance remotely by interacting with monitoring tools, homeowners, installers, and Tesla tech support.
  • Meet with utility clients to provide technical project support as needed.
  • Interface with Tesla technical teams regarding product updates, fleet operations, and feedback.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar
  • Hands-on experience working on residential electrical systems is a major asset

Skills and Attributes

  • Fluency in French is an asset.
  • Detailed understanding of residential electrical systems and battery energy storage systems; familiarity of solar energy systems is an asset.
  • Ability to learn and communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical team members and clients.
  • Expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex problems through innovative and analytical methods.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and maintaining subject matter expertise.
  • Highly motivated and eager to work collaboratively in a small, close-knit team.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and electrical drawing tools like AutoCAD or Visio.

Workload, Commitments, and Interactions

  • Works full-time hours as necessary to perform all duties under this role.
  • Hybrid work environment - combination of working at MPOWER's office in Toronto, ON and working remotely.
  • Some travel may be required for site visits.
  • Works closely with all MPOWER employees.
